I'll try this one for SE, I'll let you know what happened [I always looked for a mod like this]
edit: Nop it didn't work, at least for me, show the options to read/pickup/exit, but read option give the option to read (obviously) but time dont pass and no animation, though if I open the same book on the inventory the animation shows and time passes
Accidentally spent 3 hours reading a book in a cavern that still held enemies. Inigo seemed confused by my tactics. I learned about someone's grocery list.
Would love to se this mod in action without costing me 3-4hrs in-game. Because it's an immersion killer if you think about it. Who would stand and read a book for 3 to 4 hours found a creepy ass dungeon while draugr are still lurking in the shadows? So I'm hoping you might be willing to add an option to briefly flip through some pages while the character determines the books worth.
I do not have this mod but, if you download(not the exact name) the immersion time passing mod it makes the game possible to pass slower, rather than on hour every 2 or so minuets, so that might help from killing the immersion? just a suggestion!
I second this, i would love to use this with "Sometimes pick up books" and "Read aloud". But only the animation... =( Would be nice watching my character read the book while i listen and watch him turning pages etc. + realistic time would pass and not 2 hours.
Dovahkiin Relaxes Too is a good mod, although it picks the animation at random. You may have to try a few times before you get the book reading animation.
Is this mod still being worked on? I would love this feature specifically for Skill and Quest Books --- which I always thought was weird you instantly got the reward without you, the player, even reading it --- but only optionally for all books; I'd also love to see the time adjusted for how long you spend with the book open.
Maybe it's just me, but what I really hate is that NPCs respond to the contents of books and letters the instant that you hand it to them. Nice going, Bethesda.; it's not a race, you know. You can let the NPCs take a little time to read the letter or book that they've been handed. IMO, even a 5-second delay would be enough to avoid shattering my immersion.

Endorsed!
Mods improve with critical input, perhaps you accept everything is set in stone but many don't
