And version 1.28 is here, adding a scandinavian exclusive: the Swedish Swordstaff, as described and illustrated by a landsknecht who actually encountered these first hand in the Battle of Elfsborg in 1502. Allegedly the Swedes had made these out of swords.
Anyway, I figured that if anything can be said to belong in Skyrim, then an exclusively Scandinavian weapon probably does. And with Sweden's national day coming up, hey, it was a good reason to make this one.
Edit: if you want the sword version, that is, with a sword grip and pommel instead of a pole, you can find it as the Type XV in my Arming Swords collection.
the zweihander has some blood mesh issues at the tip of the blade. When the sword is all bloody, a line of "blood cubes" are on the tip of the blade, any fix for this?
Well, it varies across time and space, since it's not a standardized thing, but how big do you think these are? Mine have a 29cm long blade, and about 6cm wide. The total length is just short of the same 45cm, because I had to make the grip a bit longer, so your hand doesn't clip through the bow in third person. Skyrim unfortunately shifts the hand positions substantially between first and third person.
So not a whole lot of difference between your measurements and mine, I would say.
Of course, my calculations are for a character that's 5'10" tall, or about 1m and 78cm tall in metric. Which I suppose would be a bit taller than the average medieval person, chinese or european, and make the weapon look a little bit smaller in their hands by comparison.
THAT SAID, you can quite trivially make the blade bigger by opening the .nif in NifSkope, finding the NiTriShape node for the blade (just move the sheath out of the way right-click on the blade) and changing the scaling factor to something else. E.g., set it to 1.25, and there you go, you now have a blade that's 25% bigger in all directions. Then change the y position to still meet the hilt right. Do the same scaling and translation for the two blood meshes and the scabard, and Bob's your uncle.
Thanks for the kind words. But yeah, that's my general philosophy: the more choice, the better. (Even if it does occasionally result in my not being able to decide what to wear:p)
And version 1.27b is here, bringing absolutely nothing else than SE compatibility. So basically you can use the meshes or the whole mod in Skyrim SE, and it should work just like in normal Skyrim. Though they are not OPTIMIZED for Skyrim SE, so I'd still advise using the existing SE port, unless you're using this as a resource for SE.
Well, a couple of hilts should have better lighting, but if it didn't bother you before, there's no real point in downloading the upgrade.
Lovely work. Couple of these look like permanent additions to my arsenal. I particularly like how almost all of them boast scabbards, a detail a lot of modders ignore. Textures are somewhat plain, but quite passable and a damn sight better then I can do, so no complaints there. All in all, definitely a keeper. Well done! Edit: The more I play with this, the more these weapons look like aincent arms as produced by a modern forge. Which is really quite cool.
Just letting you know that there are about 10 of the weapons here that do not actually have the silver effect. When I pulled it up in CK to fix it for myself I can see that they did already have the silversword script added however it needs to be edited to include the silverperk also for it to work correctly. Once I did that they are fixed to include adding the standard text for silver weapons which was also missing. Just pointing it out so you can fix it if you ever update this in the future. Thanks again for sharing these its nice to have higher level silver blades
Amazing looking weapon as always and nice to see you provide permission for use of the assets in other mods. I'm working on a big weapon compilation and if you have nothing against it i would like to include your weapon mods into it
And so it came to pass that I wasn't really satisfied with the Ayleid Falchion after all. So I've redone it. More curved edge near the tip, less of a needle-tip, slightly longer blade, different hilt, slightly less polygons. Basically I wanted it to really LOOK the part of a primarily slashint sword, rather than have a Type XV tip geometry, and have a more offset pommel to counter-balance the swept-back tip.
You know how it is with us artist types, eh?
Anyway, that's literally all that version 1.27 brings: a redone Ayleid Falchion. If you liked the old one better or didn't use the falchion anyway, you don't really need the update.

most weapon mods on here are boring 1k Fantasy swords, which is alright in itself, but the variety of your mod really warms my heart.
good work!
