~ Introduction ~
This mod was created because of how uninspired the vanilla town of Morthal felt. There was so much potential to create a unique atmosphere. Morthal is an incredible location that deserves its own identity.

This mod aims to transform the town into an interesting and memorable experience for you as the player to explore. My hope is to significantly elevate the grim atmosphere we see in Morthal.

Morthal now has unique architecture for the farmhouses, the Jarl’s keep, gatehouses, walls, and watchtowers. The fortifications are reasonable and practical given the dismal economic status and lack of resources of the capital of Hjaalmarch. The defenses are just “good enough” to attempt to keep out any monsters in the swamp and any marauding bandits.

Special attention has been given to pay homage to Morthal’s storied history and lore, surrounding Morihaus - a Minotaur skull and Morihaus motif can be found on the Jarl’s Keep.

— many immersive details added such as a custom well and sturdy gatehouse doors, woodpile shelters, appropriate lite clutter in towers. 
— Morihaus lore, visually told via a minotaur skull and a Morihaus motif on the Jarl’s Keep door.  
— guard barracks now has protected area and an upper deck patio area. 
— immersive static weapon racks in some of the towers. 
— vanilla layout of town and homes is preserved. Making compatibility and patching  easier.
— no interior cell edits. Preserving compatibility as much as possible. 
— adds a dead oak tree in the center of town. 
— all gatehouses and watchtowers are fully accessible and explorable. 
— adds animated water gate that you can open and close. 
— lod models provided. Generate with Dyndolod for accurate distant lod. 
— fully navmeshed

~ Optional Files ~
  • "Vanilla Textures - Add-On File"  OR  "Parallax Vanilla Textures - Add-On File":  this optional file has all meshes pathed with vanilla textures. This means it’ll use whatever modded textures you have in your game (for those of you who might not like the red brick texture, etc.). It’ll use your following textures - farmhouse, Riften (stone wall and roof shingle).
