Changed Reactions script to only fire when the player's not already in dialogue. Should fix any remaining issues people may be experiencing.

Finally tracked down the issue around some people experiencing dialogue breaking up and subtitles not going away. Recruiting him on a new game is still strongly recommended.
The issue appears to be an engine limitation from using existing saves and heaps of dialogue loading at once or performance on lower-end hardware. Added option to toggle the Reactions feature completely off.
Fixed issue with armor compatibility around the new custom race. He will now properly wear anything else you give him.
This will be the last update for a while.

Orpheus now uses a custom race. This should fix issues for people experiencing subtitles getting stuck and dialogue not working properly.
It's most likely being caused by Race conflicts, specifically for vampire variants, with something else in your load order.

Orpheus is an ancient Snow Elf vampire and evil without being "edgy." He is not your friend, he is not your drinking buddy and he is certainly not interested in a relationship. A response to all the quirky, fawning nice guys smothering pop culture, Orpheus is absolutely ruthless and follows you more out of an agreement than fondness.
Why pick him up? Well, beyond a character that's deliberately intended to break the mold, Orpheus has a custom-built combat system designed around Bound Weapons that grow stronger as you level, full Vampire Lord form support and more.
All his features are modular as much as they are extensive, allowing you to tailor things with the press of a button.
Along with all the bells and whistles of other followers, custom gear, full reactivity and commentary on all major quests, factions, DLC and more, Orpheus will hopefully prove to be a distinct and memorable companion... all the way up until the end.
To find him, head to the mountain pass near Haemar's Shame. Many fall, but one remains.
Installation
Pick what you need from the FOMOD or install with a mod manager as usual. This should go without saying, but NFF, AFT, UFO, etc. are not supported.
There are minor edits to Solitude and Haemar's Shame in particular that will require patches. No, I will not be making them.
To get the most out of this, I recommend starting a new game.
