About this mod

Ornaugs are marine reptiles with a canine appearance and amphibious life, native to the warm waters of the Abecean Sea and used as mounts by the Maormer. Plates of reinforced scales cover some parts of their body, especially those that cover the entire head, giving them a hard, bony-looking helmet.

"Ornaugs are marine reptiles with a canine appearance and amphibious life, native to the warm waters of the Abecean Sea. Plates of reinforced scales cover some parts of their body, especially those that cover the entire head, giving them a hard, bony-looking helmet.

They do not have fins, but they are still agile swimmers, however, they feed mainly on beaches, both as scavengers and hunting small crustaceans and fish. An Ornaug's back, tail and paws have membranes that help with swimming, and its eyes and nostrils have special adaptations for diving, in addition to powerful lungs.

They are domesticable, and are often used as mounts. Males have a pair of horns on their heads, used for territorial mating disputes, while females lack this adornment. Adult Ornaugs can reach considerable sizes, allowing an adult Maormer to ride them with ease, a common sight on Dreadsail Reef, a reef off the coast of High Isle that serves as a major base for the Dreadsails, a group of Maormer pirates.

Ornaugs do not have good thermal insulation and do not inhabit cold waters, and are mostly restricted to the Abecean Sea, with the largest documented concentration of them being located on the coasts of Systres Archipelago. The most common type, classified as Amenos Ornaug, occurs mainly on the island of the same name, in the aforementioned archipelago.

Very rarely an Ornaug can get lost and end up in distant waters. Some juveline strayed Amenos Ornaugs are sometimes found, often dead due to the drastic change in temperature, in the Sea of Ghosts, north of Skyrim. To get there, an Ornaug had to be carried by the current across the Azurian Sea, usually appearing on the shores of Haafingar or its surroundings. However, these stray Ornaugs will usually meet their ends if they continue heading east, where the icy waters will freeze them to death.

Ornaug meat is inedible, except by special means of preparation little known in Skyrim, so hunting a stray Ornaug generally has no use or benefit.

The Mihail Monsters and Animals series aims to create and make available to the community the most complete set of creatures for TES 5: Skyrim, implemented in an immersive and unique way, with respect to the pillars of lore. Instead of pathetically just throwing models and textures in the game reusing 100% vanilla mechanics, the creatures made by Mihail have uniqueness and extreme zeal in their idealization and implementation, which will provide you with an experience that you have never had before in this area.
