.Pickpocketing.

A skill tree with potential that has been neglected overall in my opinion. There are several real draw backs to pickpocketing in general that have turned me off of the tree for many a playthrough, using it pretty much only to join the thieves guild. In the few times I have tried to use it, it ends up being a lot of quick saving and reloading until I succeed. Having to flee from an angry village because I got swiping someone apple was a bit much for me. I've attempted to remedy these, as well as vastly expand the perk tree and overall viability of investing time into pickpocketing.

The problems with pickpocketing:
  • Lack of variety - Vanilla pockets are pretty repetitive, with there being a small loot table, and gold. I've expanded these lists to include many more things, nothing loot breaking, just small nick-nacks one would keep in their pockets
  • No respawning - Once you pickpocket someone in game, their inventories would never respawn. Greatly limiting the usefulness of the skills if you want to stay in one area of the game for a long time or revisit a city. Now every fews days NPC inventories will be cycled.
  • No weight gold - Stealing 1000 gold was no harder then stealing 1 gold due to the formula the game used to calculate your chance of success. Stacks of gold are now replaced with coinpurses, which have a weight of .01 per coin. These will automatically be emptied into your pool of gold when you steal them.
  • Reloading quick saves - players usually just reload their saves if they fail. Now there is a restriction for a period after loading a game that prevents you from pickpocketing for a time, encouraging players to deal with the consequences of being caught.
  • Over-reactionary NPCs - NPCs (and any nearby friends) immediately start combat with you if caught pickpocketing. Alot of times you could sheathe your weapon to calm most attackers, but there would still be NPCs aggressive based on their settings. After taking Novice pickpocketing, they will instead report the crime, and may attack you if you stick around too long after they catch you.
Gameplay Changes:
  • Maximum chance to succeed without perks is 75%, increases with various perks.
  • Minimum chance increased to 5%, and can be increased with perks. This is to help with the fact that expensive poisons cannot be reverse pickpocketed successfully.
  • The "You've been caught pickpocketing!" message has been removed, the fact that you've been caught is evident by being forced out of their inventory menu.
  • Added poison apples, these can be used without taking the poisoned perk, death is assured, but it could take awhile. Crafted at the cookpot.
  • Targets that spawn with empty pockets may automatically get items.
  • Several effects that were supposed to fortify pickpocketing were broken, this repairs those too.
  • Allows player to pickpocket children.

RECOMMENDED
This mod was designed with the use of Skyrim Souls in mind, preventing the game pause during menus. While not required, a couple of the perks will be essentially pointless without it. Up to you, but I enjoy the added realism that mod adds.
REQUIRED
All Official DLC
Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch
Skyrim Script Extender
COMPATIBILITY
Played with it loaded under Requiem with no detectable issues. Not compatible with Perkamus due to the trees being merged. May or may not work with other perk overhauls.
