The Field Surveyor - as its name suggest, is a portable device originally aims to become assistant for architect and worker with daunting tasks through helpful features, from detailed measuring, interactive blueprint visualization, inspecting construction site and progress supervising.

Regrettably, for unknown reasons, early halting of development and research has caused Field Surveyor to never made it pass beyond prototype stage.
Yet its uncertain future were brief. Divisions of combatants has taken interest in the device's potentials, and soon it received an overwhelming amount of praises thanks to its performance in tactical operation despite bearing limited amount of functioning features.

The disappearance of the Dwemers has left their technologies gradually lost in the passage of time. 
Very few prototype Field Surveyor units were manufactured, them too, shares the same fate.

By 4E 201, a rumor circulating within circles of scholars studying what's left of the Dwemers said a strange rumbling noise has been heard emitting from the Dwarven Storeroom near Mzulft ruin at the Hold of Eastmarch...




The Field Surveyor features intuitive control based on gesture and mechanical switches for ease of access to frequently used functions.
In addition, there will be audible feedback for every input.
When the device is being held, it will automatically synchronizes applicable functions to its user.


Entity Scan




"Entity Scan" will be automatically equipped and can be initiated as a lesser power.

Reveal any and all being within range. Detection works through obstruction.
The "scan wave" serves as visual indication of Entity Scan's effective radius, user can observe its reach to estimate how far away will your target be marked.

A single scan marks target for 10 seconds. Subsequent scan(s) will extends marking duration on target by an additional 10 seconds, in other words, this effect stacks. 
Most being will be marked by a basic pale blue overlays. Marking for Dwarven automaton will have an additional red-colored overlays shown alongside basic overlays.

Path Guidance




"Path Guidance" is always on standby, awaiting gesture to be activated on-demand.

Simply hold the Field Surveyor vertically downward like a lantern, rear facing forwards.
This function will remains in activated state as long as the device is kept in required orientation.

If you have a marker on your map, Field Surveyor will analyzes favorable terrain and draws a path leading to your destination.
Much like a regular Clairvoyance spell.
Generated pathing cannot refreshes on its own to catch up with your position, Path Guidance has to be manually re-engaged to generates new path.

If you have multiple active quest markers, Field Surveyor will prioritizes the nearest ones.
A custom marker placed on your map will take precedence over any quest marker. Make use of this to have the Field Surveyor helps you tread difficult terrain.




Additionally a subtle short-throw red light will turn on to illuminates your view ahead. Lighting can be activated without needing to draw a path.

Why red light you might ask? Incorporating advices from astronomers, when working under low-light condition as well as night time outdoor activities, 
red-colored light is sufficient to provides visibility without ruining your scotopic vision.

How to acquire

Discover a new container within the Dwarven Storeroom. Be sure to bring plenty of lockpicks. Inside there will be one Field Surveyor and one special item, activate it while it's in your inventory to brings up item's description. The forementioned container will respawns on cell reset, you can come back for it later to get more Field Surveyor and accompanying loot.
