Maybe you want your Skyrim to be more combat oriented.  Maybe you want your animal encounters to be more challenging.  Maybe you want to feel like Hugh Glass in The Revevant.  That's great.  More power to you.

Or maybe you're like me.  Maybe you modded your more for towns, shopping, home and family life, romance, etc.  Maybe you just want to enjoy a peaceful, tranquil ride through the beautiful, scenic wilderness without being constantly harassed by predators.  Maybe you're endlessly annoyed, maybe you've had it up to here, maybe you're so, so, SO f****** sick to death of constantly, constantly being mauled by bears, like seriously, every two f****** seconds.  Especially in the rift.  It never stops.  It's just a continuous stream of god damn bears.  I mean, holy s**t.  Ride down the road: BRRRAAAAARRRR!  Mauled.  Stop to look at the pretty lake: BRRRAAAARRR!  Mauled.  Stop to look at the trees and the pretty sunset.  BRRRRAAARRR!!!  Mauled.

Yesterday I was mauled by three at once while riding.  THREE.  All shoving my f****** horse around.  I ended up hitting poor Serana while trying to kill em.  I just said, "f*** it.  That's it.  I can't f****** take it anymore.  I'm done.  No more animal attacks, ever."

There are some mods that decrease animal aggression, but I'm so over it that I just wanted it OFF.  Forever.

And that's how this little mod came about.  When I played vanilla Skyrim for the first time about 11 years ago, killing bears was fun.  It was scary and challenging, which is partly what made it fun.  Every kill meant skill increases and precious loot.  It's a different time and a different game for me now.  I'm level 177.  Skills and loot don't matter.  I'm godlike.  Animals aren't challenging.  They're just annoying.  I crafted my modded game to be oriented around non-combative stuff.  I still want dungeons and bad guys, of course, but I prefer it to be opt-in.  I want to be able to enjoy peaceful rides through the wilderness without raging bears, wolves, and sabre cats barreling at me every two seconds.  I still want challenging combat in games, but Skyrim is never going to be that for me again.  When I want challenging combat, I'll go play God of War, Elden Ring, etc.  That's not what I want my modded Skyrim to be.  I'm so done with bears and wolves.  Soooo f****** done.

This quick plugin makes the animals of Skyrim docile and non-hostile for those who want a peaceful wilderness experience.  Predators will now just walk around, slowly meandering and patrolling their territory, but they will never attack if left alone.  If you attack them, they'll attack back.  Otherwise, they're just scenery.  A little silly, perhaps, but some of us are just so sick of constant animal attacks.

Affected animals:

  • Bears
  • Wolves
  • Sabre cats
  • Mudcrabs
  • Horkers
  • Skeevers
  • Slaughterfish

I left spriggans, trolls, and frostbite spiders alone because they seem more monstrous, and aren't as common anyway.  They don't charge at you constantly and ruin your day.  I also left giants and mammoths alone because they're just in their camps and can easily be avoided.

No requirements.  Should be compatible with anything that doesn't modify those animal race or actor forms.  If in doubt, load low to ensure that this plugin takes precedence.

Disclaimer: I'm using this on a finished save.  I don't remember if there's some obscure quest that relies on a bear doing something specific that will break from this.  Probably not.  Just sayin', I'm not gonna test every possible thing.  I just wanted the animals to stop so I could have some peace, and I thought I might as well share it.

Fixes to bear actor's races from USLEEP have been forwarded.

Regarding SE:  I do not own SE, so I can't convert a plugin myself, and I don't really want to pester my benefactor to port this one for me.  There's no assets, so if you want to use this in SE, all you have to do is open the plugin in the SE kit, save it, close the kit, and play.  It's that easy.

I wasn't planning on uploading anything else, and had announced my retirement, but I was so fed with the animal attacks, so this just had to be done.  Okay, back to retirement.  Hopefully it will stick this time.  :/
