About this mod

A small mod to change the appearance of the Gildergreen, Eldergleam, and Eldergleam sapling to resemble Weirwoods from the Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones series. Mod is through textures only, no esp required. Made at the request of WDREWJR

Compatible with other Skyrim Versions.

Permissions and credits
Overview:

This mod will change the appearance of the Gildergreen, Eldergleam, and Eldergleam sapling to resemble a typical Weirwood from the ASOIAF / Game of Thrones Series, with white bark and red leaves (no faces as of yet, maybe in the future).

This mod should be safe to install at any point in your playthrough, as it only changes some textures. Whatever your status is for the Gildergreen quest, will determine what the tree in Whiterun appears as.

- Quest not completed? The sick Gildergreen will have the white wood appearance, but no red leaves.
- Quest completed with Sap? The restored Gildergreen will have the white wood and red leaves.
- Quest completed with the sapling? The sapling has the same appearance as the restored Gildergreen and Eldergleam, white wood and red leaves.

As a side note, if you have a mod that causes the sapling to grow over time in-game, the growing sapling will have the white wood and red leaves as it grows and matures, no conflict at all.

EDIT: 4/4/2023
Mod should be fully compatible with other versions of Skyrim (Legacy, Anniversary, VR, etc) I don't own all versions, however assuming there is no change in how to mod those versions (ie use of data folders) it should work without issue. Will test with my SSE/Anniversary Edition, but if anyone has VR or another version, let me know in the comments if it works out of the box or will require additional tweaks.

Installation:

- Open the archive with 7Zip or any equivalent program
- Open folder "Weirwood Skyrim"
- Copy the textures folder to your Skyrim/Data folder (where you see the esps, BSA files etc).
- Run game and enjoy

Incompatibilities:

There should be none, unless you already have a mod that changes the Gildergreen, Eldergleam, and Sapling appearance. If that's the case, when you copy the texture folder, if asked to override, select yes. The texture path for this mod follows the vanilla folder structure in the base game's BSA texture pack.

I would like to thank SRWO, for their base upscaled texture for the Gildergreen, that I humbly recolored and tweaked. His original mod is here:

History/ Background:

I originally had made a custom texture and used it to place a custom weirwood tree (ie standalone) at the Kjenstag Ruins and posted an image of it, years ago. Never made the mod public, and after a bluescreen incident in 2014/2015, I lost majority of my mod work, including this texture.

Fast forward to 5/2021, wdrewjr reached out in a IM, and asked if I still had the mod. Last few years since 2020 have been a big blur of real life work, and I recall reading the message, but just ignoring it as I barley played games anymore, let along mod them.

Things have slowed down, I've gotten older, and I got back to playing games, and modding them again (on a very small scale). I recalled this message, and I checked his profile, but it seems he hasn't been online since 6/2022. His age is listed at 58, and given the chaotic nature of the world, I hope nothing has happened to him.

It may be too little, too late, but here it is.
