About this mod

Fixes the infamous broken shoulders in the vanilla laydown. Now that one chick in the Eastmarch hot springs will look nice!

Permissions and credits
I've seen multiple requests for a fix to the vanilla laydown animation to correct the infamous broken shoulders, and I haven't seen any animation replacer that specifically does that, so I finally got around to making one.  I also reanimated the enter and exit parts to be prettier and a bit more feminine.  If you don't want to use those, then just delete them.

The enter and exit animations are very similar to those on my newly updated Poolside Sits mod.  Check out the gifs over there.

I also animated the 3rd person camera bone to move down smoothly with the character.  It's a really nice effect.

As far as I'm aware, that single female bather in the hot springs is the one and only npc in the world that uses this animation.  (I guess that's why Beth didn't try very hard.)  You know, in addition to the shoulder thing, they also messed up the legs by bending one of the knees sideways (which would break it irl), instead of moving the hip more, which is what they should have done.  Why, Beth, why?!

Obviously, if you want to see your character using these animations, you'll need to use a mod like Idle Wheel Menu, or any similar mod that lets the player access the unused npc idles.  Otherwise, no requirements.  If you're a female Khajiit player, you're also definitely going to want my Khajiit Neck Fix.

Now, I apologize, but the shoulder area is still slightly crunchy*, but it's way better than the vanilla position.  I think so,anyway.  It's impossible to make this position perfect with this model and skeleton.  I fought with it for a long time.  Trust me, this is as good as it gets.

Know Issue/Caveat
  • I animate in Blender on Linux, which is about as far from the native Bethesda method as one can get.  My animations sometimes contain minor random flickering artifacts which result in a bone or two appearing to sort of spazz out for a frame here or there.  I have never figured out  how to eliminate this, but I have narrowed the problem down to the conversion process between kf and the game's binary hkx format, which is unfortunately the one part of the process that I can't inspect.  I suspect the only way to avoid this glitch entirely would be to animate in 3DS Max with Havok Content Tools as Beth did.  This spazz effect is usually very minimal, (often barely noticeable, really), and shouldn't diminish enjoyment of the animation at all.  I just wanted you to be aware that I'm aware of this potential glitch.  Many apologies.

*Crunchy - the term I use to describe when non-optimal deformations in a 3D mesh cause vertices to stretch, twist, poke out, and result in sharp, unsightly angles.
