Great mod, but I seem to have broken it a bit. A dragon attacked the college when I was talking to the Enchanting teacher and it seems to have glitched where I can't get the quest from him or skip it, and it doesn't show up in my quest journal. I'm just stuck with an uncompleted quest. Any way I could get the quest id's so I can use console commands to try and fix or skip it?
I encoutered a major bug in the first quest. Tolfdir says he wants to teach me water breathing but all I get is transmure weapon? Is it because I am not yet at the adept level of alteration?
All in all this mod is great but I find it a little rough to have a first quest requiring such a high level. You need to be an adept at alteration and you need to have more then 220 magicka. You need to be at least level 12 and spend all levels into magicka (+10 magicka per level up and you start with 100) to make this work. Everytime I play skyrim I enter the college during lvl 5-10. So I am faaaaar away from getting there. As I said its a great mod, but it really starts on the wrong side. I thought you want to make it more realistic for young unexperienced students that want to become mages. And then I already need to be a full on mage. Sadly this ruined the immersion of the mod for me. Maybe there is something you could do about that @jayserpa?
Not really. The Atronach birthstone give you 50 magica points. And playing as pure mage or battlemage with Atronach birthstone is sort of One of must be because in addition to +50 points to magic, you get a 50% chance to absorb spells - this also includes poisons from what I noticed like spiders and chaurus. A great addition not only for the mage (but very profitable for the mage) is having the Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim modification. Which reasonably increases your capabilities and gameplay immersion. I would highly recommend . Also every self-respecting magician should visit Radiant Raiment ( Solitude) from time to time, because here are the best magic items you can buy (I don't mean the best loot).
I suggest using 'College of winterhold entry requirements' in conjunction with this mod. It gives your mage character a goal to work towards (earning their right to join a prestigious school of magic), and more importantly, it ensures that you are powerful enough to be ready for this mod's level requirements.
Great mod just one issue in Stonehills after giving the enchanted weapon i saw Adara then unlucky i had a crash reloaded but no Adara and she just wont show up any idea how to solve or an ID so i can teleport her to me ??
Dude, thanks, this is a very cool mod. But the first task is very difficult if used together with Frostfall. It was very epic. I have no stamina and I swim very slowly, it's pretty dark under the water, and the spell is ending. I had to watch the video to figure out where this crystal is and it was still very difficult.
You've heard of Snowberry Extract, right? Its a part of frostfall specifically to make it possible to do quests that require you to swim.
I will admit though, it did take me an inordinate amount of time to find the thing. I ended up going back to Arniel thinking that I would have an option to tell him that I couldn't find it. I had to jump on top of one of the floating ice chunks above the area who knows how many times times to re-cast waterbreathing before I found the stupid thing. I still enjoyed the mod none-the-less, and sorta wished there was more.
With Frostfall you need to use the Snowberry Extract, otherwise you'll end up freezing to death in 15 seconds. There are tons of snowberries on your way to the shore. You can craft the potion very easily and afterwards, there is a bonfire that will warm you up completely. As for the water being too dark... are you doing the quest at night (because who dives at night)? Or do you have any lightning mods that could be affecting the way it looks underwater?
Just tried to complete the quest TWICE with frostfall installed. Even with snowberry extract, I keep freezing to death long before I can find this stupid thing. I'm already 'cold' by the time we get to the spot, and once I get to 'chilly', I can no longer even cast the waterbreathing spell due to the hit to my skills. I really don't see how it can be done. I can't even use the stinking spell if I get too cold. Also, you need 15 snowberries to make the extract, which is close to number around winterhold. This means you can only find enough to make one bottle, and that only lasts for 3 minutes, and for some reason its not staving off the inevitably forever. Maybe my temperature dropped from hopping onto a glacier to try and re-cast the spell. Either way, I'm starting to think I need to remove this mod and restart my entire playthrough. Actually, I'll probably just quit again for a week, because I'm so god damned sick of restarting my game over and over again due to me having to alter my load order due to some stupid issue. I rarely get to even play Skyrim because how much time I'm spending just to get this stupid game working. I've actually started to question why I keep playing this game over and over. All I do is run through all the vanilla questlines over and over again. Yeah, I rotate between playing a mage, stealth character, and warrior, but I'm still just playing the same game over and over.

So yeah, another character in the trash, another 20 hours of my life wasted just starting the damned game again. I'm really getting sick of this. I have completed all the quest and now I'm in the final battle against Arcano but I can not cause any damage. to him, is this a bug, has anyone else had this problem? Never mind figured it out.
Hi i installed the mod before joining the college, but it didn't do anything, got the quest for Sarthaal immediately after the first lesson from Tolfdir i assume this means it wasn't installed properly, could this be an issue with Vortex ? but it's the mod bugging out, how can i fix this ? i'm not even sure how to report it
NMM? Time to change to a supported mod manager, that one has been deprecated by the devs a long, long time ago now. It's just going to cause you random issues for completely normal mods like this one.
If you could upload the file other than in rar format that would be great, like 7zip format. I have my reasons to stick with the old MM on LE. Works just fine for me but rar packaged files it sometimes will not unpack if they contain sub folders. Cheers

Second, rename this mod's file name to something much shorter so NMM can unzip it during install.
