For some reason I still can't craft the armors from the original. Were they meant to be crafted after a quest?

      That's quite possible. Which armor?

The Vigilant armor doesn't come up. According to the Creation Kit they are in the MaterialSteel category. The SSE mod page says that they are quest unlocked after exploring Dimhollow Crypt.

      Edit:

It appears that none of the armors have a crafting recipe and only have tempering recipes.

That sounds right, since they're faction armors (must get them from the faction).  It's not very hard to make new recipes (just copy a vanilla one that uses the same stuff).  But I didn't make the original mod, I just patched up obvious problems in it.  I guess I could make a full-crafting version, but it's something I would have to take some time out to do.

I don't mind making my own version for now. I've made it so that the Vigilant's stuff is craftable, which what I was trying to make. I guess the original never had crafting.

Tsk, the original mod is part of my big merged files. Is it OK if I just add this to my merge?

I can't see why not. It'll end up applied as the later versions of the records, just as it would if it remained stand-alone.  But see other post, about conflicts with some other armor-changer mods.  You could end up with some conflicts, just not USLEP ones, depending on just how much stuff you've merged into that pile.  I can't think it would actually break anything; you just might not get exactly the expected gear on every single person.

They're all Weapon, Armor and Item mods with no scripts just Meshes and Textures files.

      I'm using UFA Standard Edition.

Might result in some mismatched gear, but oh well.  It's not like people in ancient-to-medieval times had gear that rolled off a modern assembly line; they wore what was available, and it was all hand-made.

What do you mean "mismatched?" The unplayable factions are wearing armor pieces from other unplayable factions or they are wearing gear from the merged mods?

No idea. Depends on the mods.  Whatever mod loads last and changes the same record will "win" with regard to what it does.  So if this mod sets two bandit/criminal gangs to have unique gear (and we know it does that), but some later mod changes the bandits in one of those gangs, then the later mod's version of that gang will be the one you get.  Or it might change just their boss, so he'll not have gear that matches his gang.  It's nothing particular to this exact mod; this is just how mod conflicts of all kinds operate.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Darklocq!

I had no idea that such a cool armor set existed for LE, and the patch is certainly welcome.

I just ran into a pair of Vigilants of Stendarr, and seeing them in their new armor made me draw back in awe. It seriously increased my respect for them tenfold. No longer are they just some mace-wielding college-style mages, but actual solemnly dedicated daedra hunters.

Yeah, the original modder said something like the vanilla Vigilants just look like a random rabble of bandits.

Thanks for the patch, one question: I have installed the Armor Replacer mod from the same author, do I need a USLEEP patch too?

I believe this patch forwards the changes made by USLEEP.
So if you don't use USLEEP - then this patch won't make much sense to install.

      EDIT:
If you're referring to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31679 - then I don't know - as SSE's USSEP is not entirely the same as LE's USLEEP

I have USLEEP installed, but I also have the (Armor Replacer) from the same author as Unplayable Faction Armors, I was just wondering if a USLEEP patch is also needed for both mods.
I'm a newbie to skyrim and I'm trying to make sure my game doesn't have any bugs or CDTs.

*I have an Armor Replacer LE port installed, that's why I asked*

I can take a look at it as time permits.  It is likely it will need a USLEP patch.  What the issue is: The author of the original mods is a Skyrim SE player, and has just very directly backported these SE mods to LE with tools for doing that (Cathedral Assets Optimizer, etc.), but does not have LE or editing tools for it (TES5Edit and the LE Creation Kit), so isn't in a position to make LE patches or even test the results of the backporting.  So, if records in that other mod by same author "collide" with fixes USLEP did, there'll be a conflict.

On the up side, these are not the sorts of conflicts that cause CTDs; it just means that the gear mod would undo some bug fixes that USLEP made. Its most common corrections are: incorrectly placed items like levitating rocks, grass clipping through floors, or walls that don't join right and are showing a crack into "the void"; NPCs with stats and gear that don't make sense (wrong for their class, don't agree with their dialogue, incorrect for lore, too weak to be effective, etc.); and missing records (dead-body cleanup, bounding boxes, particular keywords, mount data, basic AI like having a sleep time, faction memberships, etc.).  USLEP not getting to fix a few of these things due to some outfit mod interfering with it won't destroy your game.  And if I make a USLEP patch for Armor Replacer it should be applicable mid-game.

I've checked, and that modder only has one mod for LE. His other two armor-related things are SE-only.

It's possible they would just work directly in LE, after loading the ESPs in the CK and re-saving them, so they have LE's format.  However, there are sometimes also mesh and texture differences between SE and LE (I think Cathedral Assets Optimizer can convert them).   At this point, there isn't any USLEP patching for me to do.  And the patch THIS page is about has nothing to do with Unplayable Faction Armors for SE.  It is probably already compatible with USSEP, and if not then that's a patching job for an SE player to do.  USSEP and USLEP are not the same, so this patch probably won't do what's intended in SE even if a USSEP patch is actually needed.

Thanks for the patch!!! But for some reason the mod still creates conflicts with Guards Armor Replacer and Heavy Legion..... :(

Well, I didn't do anything to patch for those.  I don't know anything about them.  What's the specific nature of the conflicts?  I wonder because I don't think THIS mod has anything to do with either of those factions (hold guards, and Imperial Legion).  But I didn't write it, so I can't be sure without really digging around in it.
