About this mod
The purpose of this mod is to bring more realism to the way the characters fight in Skyrim. For this I made custom animations inspired by moves you can find in various historical fencing treatises, such as Lichtenauer, Meyer, Fiore dei Liberi, Vadi...

HEMA Combat Overhaul

Party per pall reversed Tenny, Sable and Argent. In chief, two fencing swordsmen Argent and in base, a dragon rampant Sable fire breathing Tenny.











This mod uses the SkySA’s behavior system, with my own modifications. Thanks to Distar66 for letting me use his work to build my own mod from it.
- Animation movesets for all weapon types: Two handed sword, Polearms, one handed weapon, dagger, dual wielding, unarmed and all combinations possible using a shield. This includes walk, block and blockbash animations as well.
- 3rd and 1st person views are supported.
- A combo of 5 attacks, that can morph to 5 different power attacks
- A progressive skill based system
- Stagg on hit that push back the opponent, to maintain good distancing
- Dual wielding and H2H parry with custom animations
- NPCs also the uses the same attack system (Except for power attacks, they can only use the first one)

When picking a weapon for the first time in your playthrough, your character will probably use it with an uneducated form. But as soon as you progress in your fighting skills, you will unlock new animation and new attacks to your combo. This will depend on your One handed or Two handed level of expertise.
- 5 - 25: You flail your sword like a peasant, you can only chains 2 attacks, and perform 2 power attacks
- 25 - 50: You gain better control of your body and a much better good looking posture. However the changes here are just esthetic
- 50 - 75: You unlock 2 additional attacks and power attacks
- +75: You unlock the 5th attack, with a master power attack that performs two hits instead of one
- When using dual wielding, the two first attacks will alternate the right and the left hand. The 3 following attacks combine both simultaneously. There are 2 hits (right + left) for each power attack except the last one that has 4 (2x right + 2x left).
- When using a single dagger your power attacks will also perform 2 hits instead of one. The 5th power attack has 3 hits.
- You will be able to see by looking at your enemies's animations if is they are good or a bad fencers.

- Download and install "Dynamic Animation Replacer"
- Download and install "Nemesis Behaviour Engine"
- Download and install "Le Sentiment du Fer - HEMA Combat Overhaul"
- Run "Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine.exe"
- Tick in the list "SkySA"
- (optional) Tick in the list "Scriptfree Staggerlock" NOTE: Makes possible NPCs to be stagged several times in a raw
- (optional) Tick in the list "Remove Smallest Stagger" NOTE: Makes sure that only consequent staggs operates
- Run "Update Engine"
- Run "Launch Nemesis Behaviour Engine"
- If using MO2, create a mod with the content of the Overwrite folder
- Play the game!

- When smashing the left clic at the end of a combo, you may repeat the last attack endlessly. This bug is inherent of SkySA and hasn't been resolved yet. NPCs are also subject of this issue
- Sometimes when power attacking, the quick attack animation happens instead but as a power attack
- The player isn't affected by the stagg on hit
- The push back feature doesn't work on the player in 1st person
