question though.. Why? just for the lulz? because i tlc'd through a wall i found and its rather boring outside the game, you just get default engine stuff.. but it would be cool to have a whole team of devs make dlc sized content for skyrim, id totally buy it. (though, bethesda probably wouldnt agree on it, one guy i saw that was making something for bethesda and quit because he didnt get their permission to sell it.. cant remember what that one was though..)
Though, like you said, it does make it easier to add stuff outside of the Skyrim province, however big or small. I tried doing that for Oblivion, a while back when I discovered the Construction Set. I'm sure that someone with more free time would be able to make something worthwhile.
Joopvandie made 3 mods that are outside of Skyrim. www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58331/? www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55552/? www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55551/?
If you want to find more mods outside of the map, just description search "bBorderRegionsEnabled".
I do this, I go past the normal wall, but further down the path I reach another wall that traps me between 2 walls, and when I load the last save, the first wall isnt even passable anymore :/ help?
By walls, do you mean the invisible ones? And I haven't heard of a second layer of walls, if that's what you mean. Could you tell me more, eg whereabouts this is? And to get back to tamriel, try entering 'coc riverwood' or something similar, to teleport back.
Also, have a look at your installed mods, maybe something else adds invisible walls in that area?
I downloaded this, and now my game closes whenever I try to open it. I even deleted it from the file, verified integrity of the game on steam, and reloaded, but it still closes while loading my saved game.
This file is the basic .ini file you get with the vanilla game, with a tiny tweak that disables borders. Unless you have changed your old .ini file with some settings that can't be reversed easily (such as uGrids), I don't see why this would cause such problems.
Try just adding the tweak to your old file, (I hope you have a back-up). Though, nexus says you haven't actually downloaded this so...
If you changed the right thing in the right place, then the only thing I can think about (that I recently discovered myself) is that modloader, for example uses a different .ini file. So if you use that, you will have to edit the modloader file from within the program. If you're using it. If not, and you use a different thing, maybe wrye bash, or nmm, check if they use the standard .ini file. If not, then you basically just have to make sure that the changes are applied to whatever .ini they use (it should at least be named the same, though not in the same folder as the original).
If you're not using any tool, then I'm not too sure, unfortunately. It's a simple tweak, so there shouldn't be any incompatibilities.
Yeah, pretty much. Unless you get mods that add to the areas outside skyrim, there's nothing to actually do. Except see a very low poly white gold tower. The further you get away from the playable area, the less trees there are, the less well textured the ground is, etc, to a point where the ground isn't even solid, I believe.
That dedicated person would have my permission and best wishes. This mod, however doesn't add anything. It just simply removes the invisible borders added around the 'playable' area.
Hey, thanks a lot. That Skyrim.ini, that's just the Skyrim.ini file we have in our users documents area right, the one alongside SkyrimPrefs.ini?
We don't even need to use your file, right? We can just add that line ourselves? Anyway, that's what I did, I just looked at where you added the line, and did the same on my Skyrim.ini file. If you answer, great, if not, I guess I'll see when I start playing and happen to come across one of those borders.
I think the borders are just silly. Did you ever play Fallout New Vegas? That required an entire mod to be made because they went all border-happy with that game.
Yeah, you don't have to download anything. I wrote the thing you have to put in in the description. I thought I'd make this for those that feel uncomfortable to edit .ini files. And yes, this is the Skyrim.ini in my documents alongside SkyrimPrefs.ini.
There was a mod on the nexus that I had a while back which was a tool where you would just tick boxes and use drop-downs and the like to edit your .ini values (for various things), but I can't remember the name, and I don't know if it's still being used, but it also had a tick box for the borders, I think.
witch folder do i go in as there are like 5 things that are note pad files and they all start with skyrim my path for skyrim is this Crogram Files.Steam.SteamApps.common.Skyrim what do i do?
Hey. Not all the game files are stored in the common folder. Some files, mainly the settings files are kept in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim. All you have to do is drag the file into there, replacing the one with the same name. Or, if you don't feel like replacing the file, you can open it up yourself and change that one line with the correct value.
So for whatever reason that doesn't work for me, I've added that line into every the skyrimprefs.ini and nothing changed, I'm trying to get to a small island added by a mod to the west of Solstheim, and nothing, no matter how I changed it, placing the line of text at the end of the General section of the ini file did absolutely nothing, it did not change at all, it still informs me "you cannot go that way"
It needs to go in Skyrim.ini ... not SkyrimPrefs.ini. Also, the line should only appear once in the file, so remove any duplicates and it should be under the [General] heading and there should be only one of those as well.
