About this mod
This is a very simple smelting mod which I created for my personal needs and am now uploading to The Nexus
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
Ideal for hoarders like myself so you can smelt all the junk tankards, embalming tools, empty wine bottles, iron kettles, hide helmets, iron daggers and more that you collect during your adventures.
You can smelt weapons and armors to get some of the metals back for items for which you haven't unlocked the appropriate smiting perk yet, but you will gain only about half the amount (meaning if you for instance have the Dwarfen Smithing perk unlocked, you get back more dwarfen metal ingots back from dwarfen metal containing items that you smelt).
Heavy armors made of steel can be smelted down more efficiently once the Steel Smithing perk has been unlocked, even though these armors can only be crafted after having unlocked the Advanced Armors perk.
Leather armors can be disassembled into leather strips at the tanning rack, as usually the leather used in such armors will have already been cut into smaller pieces.
A few other items can also be disassembled at the tanning rack, like drums.
Iron items that can be smelted include iron weapons and armors, but also items like kettles, hammers, embalming tools and spigots.
Silver items include some plates, cups, candlesticks and the silver swords (because I like to loot the Whiterun keep to make some quick money early in my playthroughs lol).
Charcoal can be made from firewood, but also from some other items like for instance flutes.
I added recipes for a lot of the dwemer scrap metal items (like dwemer bowls and forks) that didn't come with the base game.
I did not include jewelry because I rather sell them for gold, but I did include a recipe to smelt the common Dibella Statues.
I did not include smelting recipes for daedric armor and weapons and some of the other high end weapons and armors, because I never felt the need to add them as I rather sell those for gold.
----------
At first I made this mod for private use only so I could smelt most the junk I collect and use it to craft instead of having to sell them, as I find the game more immersive this way.
This mod only adds new recipes, it does not change any of the default ones.
This mod intends to be usable for people who only have the base game. The DLC are not required. The unofficial skyrim patch is not necessary, though it might be a good idea to (at the very least) update the base game with the latest official patch.
----------
I've been modding games for many years now, but all of these mods have been for personal use only. But I got curious to learn how it is to also upload these mods, if only because it gives me a bit of an extra challenge while I learn how to mod skyrim as I go.
Even though I use this mod for my own use as well, the upload of this mod is also to see how the whole uploading thing works and there probably is more to come, for as long as I enjoy modmaking that is :)
