After all these years, even on AE version. This is still the best version of the Ebony Blade, extremely well thought out and implemented very well (surprisingly no one has done anything similar). I recommend the restored enchant too (I usually do my own personal tweak to make sure the faction change effect and friendly fire effect on the weapon has the redfx enchant shader to make it match the the original game's look when you un-sheath it).

Oh just a note on restoring the enchant effect on the blade. For all the magic spell effects being used on the blade, I believe the the very first one has to have all the same enchant shader, enchant hit, and enchant arts as the "drain effect's spell". If all else fail just make it so all of the spell effects have the same shaders, arts and hits e.t.c. I hope this is understandable lol.

Still one of my favorite mods, and a very smart way about going about it for both versions. I wish I could double-endorse.

Like the post above, I don't think the drain enchant with the no-alarm enchant together is overpowered. If anything, it seems almost underpowered to NOT have the drain. After all, in a real fight, what good will hits being not hostile do?

Excellent mod, thank you for making it.

That said, I'm not sure I understand the logic behind calling the combined version overpowered. I mean, if you're attacking someone that the non-hostility part would affect, the health drain is irrelevant since they're going to die without retaliating anyway. In regular open combat, it has the same effectiveness as the vanilla ebony blade. So yeah, while the combined version is extremely nice in having that dual function, the two don't really overlap enough to be called overpowered, IMO.

    Anyway, you're awesome. Endorsed.

Say, does this work with the unofficial patch? I'm hoping so, and I wished I had found this sooner... [strange thing is, the unimplemented blade at the testing hall didn't seem to work like it was supposed to, making targets stay friendly even with damage.]

Sorry about not responding sooner, I kind of fell off the face of the earth for a while. Regarding the one in the testing hall not working as expected, that's due to one of the scripts related to the blade. My main file modifies that script to fix the bug, so that it actually works as advertised. If you tested in more detail, you might have noticed that as long as they couldn't see you, they would not raise an alarm. As soon as the person you attacked could see you while you hurt them, they would call for help and go hostile. With my main file, they will never call for help, and they will never go hostile.

Edit: As for the unofficial patch, I would assume it does. I've been using the two together for a while with no issues at all.

I have a mod that makes the ebony blade a little stronger damage-wise, and I would like my blade to have this 'friendliness' lol. Would this mod still be compatible (have my modified stronger blade with the vanilla draining effect AND the friendly assault) or is that just impossible (conflicting mods maybe?)

First off, sorry for the lack of responses in a timely manner. I kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a while. This mod is compatible with any mod that edits either ebony blade, so long as they don't edit the enchant on the blade. In other words, if all they did was change the amount of damage the blade did, or how much it was worth, they will be compatible. If the enchant effect changed, then you have to skip my optional file, but the main file will still be fine.

For some reason, the mod doesn't work for me. I made a save outside Dragonsreach before starting the quest, installed the mod, started and completed the quest, retrieved the Ebony Blade, but it has the same vanilla enchantments...

I've tried using both versions of the mod. I also have the Ebony Blade Fixed mod, and have tried loading both mods before and after each other, with the same result.

    Am I missing something?

EDIT: Never-mind, just read up on the mod. Stupid me...

Hi, great mod, I like it because I have a bad tendency of whacking my companions in battle on accident and this mod lets me get away with that without them attacking me.
