My Axe

- As your skills grow, so does your trusty axe. -
What is this?
2H and 1H axe that you can reforge to a better version with every smithing perk. Each reforge comes with unique model a customizations.

Where to start?
Pick up rusty iron one handed axe in the first underground room in Helgen. The one with fireplace opposite the door. Axe is near a pile of firewood to the left of the fireplace. (Picture below.)
Second axe, for dual wielding or for follower, can be acquired by opening console via '~' key and typing 'player.AddItem XX000000 1', where XX is the load order prefix of this mod in your load order. (Or type 'coc MyAxeRoom' and take your pick.)

How to reforge?
After you get a new smithing perk and while you have axe made from previous perk materials in your inventory, then new smithing recipes for reforging (and customizations) will appear. That is, remaking your axe with better material, boosting its damage and changing its looks.
  • Example: I have a steel axe variant in inventory and get Dwarven Smithing perk. Recipe to reforge appears in crafting menu. I can change axe material from steel to dwarven to boost its damage. Now I have a basic version of dwarven axe variant. Recipes for customization appear and I can choose different wraps, shafts, blade shapes and so on.

After finishing crafting, recipes will disapear, to not clutter your crafting menu. If you lack previous smithing perk axe in your inventory, then recipes will not be visible. That is, you can't reforge from steel straight to daedric.

Requires Dawnguard. Because Dragonbone weapons.

Afterword
This has been a work of love (and frustration) that took way too long to finish, layed forgotten for almost two years and survived a hard drive corruption. I hope you will like it. If anyone read so far down, which axe is your favorite?
