Her snotty attitude not only leaves a bad first impression, but she makes it seem like the Companions are not capable of fighting a giant and require an outsider's assistance. But then again, this is Bethesda Game Studios.

Yeah, I hate that I pretty much have to sprint out all my stamina to land at least ONE hit on that giant, otherwise Aela is all like: "hey stranger have you ever thought to git gud?". I usually avoid the Pelagia Farm and Aela for the entirety of my playthroughs as a result.

First time I played this game the giant died the moment It loaded on the screen.
I still remember how wronged I felt by Aela's complaints. Pretty insane also to expect some random stranger of unknown skill to help fight a giant, I could be some farmer, some merchant, hell, just a beginner adventurer (accurrate). Crappy writting I say. Thanks for fixing this ingame event, it never made any sense, just added to the gratuitous hostility the NPCs in this game throw at you every opportunity they have.

      Another possible scenario:
"Look, lady, why are you bothering me about this? There are dragons about and Riverwood could be toast if I don't get the Jarl to send troops ASAP!"

So maybe to flesh out the "Description": what _does_ happen if you don't help kill the giant?

I'm guessing they just go their merry ways!
What honestly bothers me more is just how unbelievably impossible (at least for me) it seems to even attempt to help them fight the giant! In most cases I find that they kill the giant way before my character even manages to witness the battle in the first place!
The only time I managed to land a decisive hit that would even register on the giant was when I made a paladin starter character that had extra mana and some modified sunfire spell that hurts everything! And that spells was shot from all the way across the river, lucky hit really!
      Otherwise it's just:
      -Why U no halp uz!?
      -B**** I wasn't even here!

yep. not sure if there's a standalone mod for this, but i know it is fixed in Requiem and Improved Companions - Questline Tweaks, which you can backport to LE

Hmm, in my game they just stand there staring at the dead Giant now. Maybe there's something else wrong. At least I don't get accosted anymore.

Me, coming from the road from Riverwood, thinking about my own life, not even paying attention to my surroundings... When sudden a crazy woman runs to me and tells me, a random passerby, that she just killed a giant no thanks to me.

At first, it was confusing, and a bit amusing. But it got old real fast.
