Saw some pictures posted for this mod from user gall222 and noticed they were using a mod that makes the daggers appear on the back. unfortunately this puts the scabbard ring facing outward which IMHO looks really weird in 3D person. I have released v1.4a to address this. Everything 1.4 has without scabbard ring. Enjoy
I've always loved the shape of Tauriel's Daggers from the movie 'The Hobbit', and although I have seen various versions of the more famous blades from that movie. I have not seen these (they might be out there somewhere but I hadn't seen them).
Ghosus Weapon Pack includes them... but I think your take on these looks much better. Thank you for sharing it with us. The next time I pull out the old Tauriel follower mod I've still got, she's gonna be using these.
beautiful modelling and textures. I don't mind the non lore friendliness, since they aren't exactly canon to tolkein either. Tauriel was literally added to the Hobbit because it was a sausage party. "Wasn't diverse enough". Legolas wasn't supposed to be there either. Legolas was elsewhere at the time, I believe.
True on Tauriel, and you're correct on Legolas too. However the design of the daggers for Tauriel in the movie is outstanding IMHO so regardless of lore I had to make them to play with.
And like I said, your style is distinctive and high quality. I like to roleplay, and I don't have a character that would use these, I think your work is criminally underrated.
Great handles and scabbards, but could use better metal textures; these look a bit plasticky. Impressive mesh detail, though. If I tried to Blender my way into something like this it would be a disaster. >;-)
Thank you for the kind words on the model, and honest critique on the textures. When I looked at it again with that critique in mind I had to agree. they were too smooth. So I retextured them to not only address that but also better match the scabbard to the blade. Added some Elvish script to the new metal texture just cuz I wanted too. Added glow mapping to engraving on handle too. was too dark, and looked more like a burn than an engraving. Again thank you for the honest yet thoughtful critique. It will help me to make a better mod V1.2 is available now. previous versions are still up if someone likes the smooth texture better.
