This mod shouldn't be used anymore. Use DynDOLOD 3.00 Alpha to render high quality billboards with TexGen instead.

Uploaded version 2.0. Pretty much everything was redone for this update. Billboards have higher resolution, more neutral lighting while keeping some self-shadowing, and are now uncompressed. The latter makes sure the highest possible quality is used for the atlas, which is compressed itself. The brightness and saturation are now matched with vanilla weathers and without ENB, which makes the resources more flexible. I found that with ENBs a LOD brightness setting of -2 to -3 is ideal, but of course many factors play into this like weather mod and so on.
The billboards themselves may appear more rough when viewed in imagine editing software, especially when it comes to the alpha channel. This is by design, as AA would cause bleeding of neighboring pixels (even though a neutral green background is used) and overall AA doesn't help in the render window when it comes to creating billboards.
Hello sir, I was going to use this mod in SSE, but I have one question:
I've seen some posts asking whether this mod is ok to use in SSE, and I've seen your responses of "yes", but I've also seen posts of people saying they ran into some errors while using it in SSE.
Is there any special procedure, small extra steps, or things to take note of in order to use this in SSE? Or can this billboard mod be used in SSE exactly like any other SSE billboard mod (such as "Indistinguishable Vanilla Tree Billboards SE" for example). Thank you!
Its fully compatible, as its just uncompressed texture resources for LOD generation and text based config files. The plugin in the archive is Form 43, so not converted for SE, though that shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know, the other tree billboard resources you mentioned still have exactly the same issues I listed on the description page.
Hey, Phlunder. I am attempting to use Seamless Billboards with Special Edition, however, I am receiving a Form 43 Error in MO2. Do I need to resave the ESP in CK64 or should it work as is? Thank you.
Correct. This mod just acts as a resource for LOD generation. Once the billboards themselves are merged into the according worldspace atlas, and the placement data is written into the BTT files, none of the assets are used anymore. Of course it doesn't hurt to just leave the mod enabled either.
Thanks for providing some shots, it helps me to get an idea how brightness and saturation works out for other weather mods and ENB presets. I see that your pine trees are way too dark, I guess that's because you had to use a low brightness setting to match other trees? I am working on the next update with 15% reduced saturation for the green pines, dead pines, and aspen trees. As well as 15% darker snow pines and heavy pines. Its impossible to find a perfect middle ground for all setups out there but I'll try to get as close as possible.
Yes, I set LOD brightness -6, which is the author's setting of Caffeine ENB. I use it with vanilla weather. I think it's dark too, especially at noon in clear weather. So I'm going to try brighter setting later. Maybe -2 or so. :)
Thank you. Using your mod in SSE after changing it to form 44 (Wyre Bash also allowed me to flag the esp as esl)
Using "Indistinguishable Billboards for Skyrim SE" for my DynDOLOD build was rendering white tree oddities for "Gavrostead SE". It was driving me crazy until I decided to replace the billboards with yours. Fixed it - no more ugly trees - so I get to keep Gavrostead as part of my Skyrim experience. Again thanks.
Thanks for the upgrade to the vanilla tree billboards. I have been using the one Sheson links to on the DynDOLOD page. Maybe I don’t have a trained enough eye to see the differences you referred to on the description page, but the inclusion of more billboards in this package tips the scales. Updated and reran DynDOLOD and it’s working great and looks good. Thank you.
I've added some full LOD closeup shots (you will never see billboards that close ingame) to the images tab. I wanted to avoid directly pointing out flaws in other mods, but as so many asked for them, here is a good example of what I am referring to on the description page. These are the 1K large pine billboards from Indistinguishable Vanilla Tree Billboards:
Ah ha. Yep, the alpha white outlines and the tree doubling effect. Yeah that looks bad. No clue that was what I was looking at in the distance. lol Thanks for the example
