Hello! This is a great mod, IMHO, especially for someone like me who can and will collect -every book in the game- to store in my too big house with too many bookshelves, and like having great and orderly bookshelves at that.
I did find an issue, that appears to have arisen recently (I don't recall having it before SSE released, at any rate), which is that if you are running Wrye Bash, the Bashed Patch can and -will- prevent this mod from working, at all. HOWEVER, I also found the -solution-, after some fiddling about. Run up LOOT, create a custom rule to always load This Mod after the Bashed Patch (Which ensures it's always the very very last on the Load Order), and all resolves itself.
I have seen a mod named "Improved skill Books". It does the same, but only with Skill Books and lets you pick them up without reading them. I like the last feature very much. "Better Skill and Quest Book Names" renames skill and quest books, plus the map markers books. Does this mod allow you to pick up the skill books without reading them? If not, can it be added easily?
This mod doesn't have that feature. I'm not modding at the moment so it won't be added, plus this is just a rename mod, it doesn't aim to be anything other than that.
There's a mod called "Always Pick Up Books" (alternately called "Sometimes Pick Up Books" but it's the same mod by the same author) that gives you the ability to choose whether you pick up, rather than read, each of the 4 categories of books (skill, quest, map marker and lore only).
There's another called "Unread Books Glow" that makes books that you haven't read glow, at three different brightness levels, and you can enable it separately for each of the 4 aforementioned types.
My only problem is getting them to work together with this mod at all times, right now only about half, maybe two thirds of the books have the prefixes added by this mod. I would love to have One Mod To Rule Them All, that did all that plus using the book cover and page replacer textures from either of the top 2 texture mods on Nexus.
I installed the mod and don't have any sorting mods either but when I go to pick up a book I can't. It doesn't show the title either. So I ran my load order through TES5Edit to see what might be overriding it and it looks like the bashed patch edits it back to it's original name. This mod came just before the bashed patch. Not sure what to do to fix it.
If a bashed patched is overriding this mod, then you'd have to either load this mod after the bashed patch, or incorporate what's being overriden into the bashed patch.
FYI, this mod was uploaded to Bethesda.net for Xbox One (https://mods.bethesda.net/#en/workshop/skyrim/mod-detail/3215735) by mrspidey (https://community.bethesda.net/people/mrspidey). Just thought you might want to know.
Thanks for letting me know, I've left a message there asking the guy who uploaded it to take it down, and I've reported it to Bethesda.
Edit: The mod uploaded by the other user has been taken down by Bethesda. Since I don't want to left people without the use of my mod, I've recreated it and ported it to Skyrim SE in both the Nexus and BethesdaNet.
Make sure the mod is activated and the .esp is enabled. Also, try loading the game with just this mod enabled, to see if it works. It's probably a mod conflicting with this one, you can find out which one it is with Tes5Edit.
is this all the quest books enabled in the game for this mod?
(Map Markers) An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim (Map Markers) Daynas Valen's Notes (Map Marker) Deathbrand * (Map Marker) Individual prefix for several notes and letters that add 1 map marker each. (Quest) The Legend of Red Eagle (Quest) Lost Legends (Quest) Boethiah's Proving (Quest) Sinderion's Field Journal (Quest) The Aetherium Wars ** (Quest) Ahzidal's Descent * (Quest) Lusty Argonian Maid Folio *
i swear there were more books that initiated quests. hmmm
OH, and how do i find out conflicts using TES5Edit? I don't think i have any conflicts, but just to be sure i disabled the mcm option for skill names for books in "moreHUD" mod. it didn't seem to affect the function of your mod either way (for quest names)
i use Mod Organizer and this mod both for years and it works perfectly and is not greyed out. i've gone through updates on both and still never had a greyed out problem.
i can only guess that maybe you installed the mod wrong, gator? This mod has an installer that asks if you are running other mods and things as you do it, maybe you selected options that don't actually apply to you? Like maybe you selected DLC options you don't have? Or perhaps you picked "Better Sorting", even though you aren't running the /entirely seperate mod/ that is called "Better Sorting"? You might have mistakenly thought "oh yes sorting books better sounds nice", without realising to pick that you actually need to be running a second mod entirely?
Edit: Eeps, didn't realise this topic and original post was so old >.<

Cudos!

I used LOOT to arrange my mods ....
I've gone over my mod list and do not see that I have any mods that should / would conflict with this ... except for maybe 1
DRAGONBORN MUSEUM that is Solitude.

It employs the same basic scheme as yours for the names and also has the uskp book bounds fixes plus more.
