About this mod

A comprehensive tweaks mod for Requiem in the vein of AZTweaks for version 3.4.0 that aims to alter Requiem into a version that suits my vision. Things will be more deadly and the player will become less overwhelmingly powerful by a playthrough's conclusion, while still maintaining a sense of fairness and balance. Balanced for use with DiD.

Don't use this with Requiem 4.0! It'll break your game. I'm not modding Skyrim actively right now, so don't expect an update at least until 5.0. Sorry.

Thanks to NBK for laying the groundwork for the site. You're awesome, man!

Inspired by AZtweaks and other overhauls, 3Tweaks aims to offer a comprehensive Requiem re-overhaul that is challenging while maintaining Requiem's sense of balance and overall enjoyability. Like all things, it is a work in progress, but with each update I hope to get closer to my goal.

Is 3tweaks for you?
You might enjoy 3Tweaks if:
- You've been playing Requiem for a long time, and feel like the game is too easy or has been "solved". 3Tweaks ratchets up the difficulty to a pretty fair degree, and introduces some new game mechanics that might not make sense if you've never played Requiem before. My target audience is people like myself who have played Requiem for a pretty long time. In other words, the same kind of people AZTweaks appeals to.
- You're sick of Skyrim's skill system. 3Tweaks introduces a new skilling system in which you level up skills by using "Potions of Insight" found primarily as quest rewards and dungeon loot. This eliminates skill grinding and takes a lot of the need for "optimal" play out of the game-- no longer do you need to worry about how many times you cast Summon Skeleton in battle; just kill the stuff and you'll level up all the same.
- You want a more balanced take on Requiem's world. Requiem has a lot of avenues to becoming phenomenally powerful, and I have attempted to cut out all the most egregious offenders. 3Tweaks is built around the idea that you will build your character "optimally" in order to face the world and still have a challenge, but the "optimal" route to power isn't so absurdly more powerful than its weaker competitors that you can't adventure on a weaker character. Some of the most powerful tools in Requiem, such as the Skull of Corruption or destruction magic have been brought down to more reasonable (but still impactful) levels. I still believe that cool things ought to be cool, and artifacts will still be special. Just, not as busted.
- You want to play shorter, faster games, optionally with DiD installed. 3Tweaks introduces a few quality-of-life features to make the average game shorter, because you'll spend less time micromanaging divine blessings, buff effects, selling things, or grinding crafting skills. If you want to do 100+ hour characters who tour the world and do everything there is to do, you will probably run out of ways to make your character stronger.

Compared to AZTweaks
3Tweaks was built from the ground up, but owes many of its features and design aspects to those pioneered by AZTweaks, its "predecessor". That said, there are a number of key differences.
- I tried to streamline some of AZTweaks' more complex or arcane features where possible. AZtweaks adds a lot of minor buffs to your character via updating conditioned abilities, such as armor rating granting magic protection or stamina increasing armor rating. I attempted to limit those kind of effects where possible and work within Requiem's framework to make your character stronger rather than adding new avenues of character growth. Skyrim can handle a lot of conditions, but I am wary of adding too many for its potential cost on performance. Races have a smaller array of bonuses than they do in AZTweaks and each divine has four components to their blessing (instead of a larger, variable amount in AZTweaks)
- 3Tweaks uses a lot more scripts compared to AZTweaks, and thus I am able to do some cool things AZTweaks cannot. 3Tweaks also edits base Requiem scripts, such as the mass effect script.
- 3Tweaks does nerf artifacts, but not as hard as AZTweaks does. I felt like some of the things in AZTweaks were nerfed so much that they were no longer special (such as the archmage robes) so I have attempted to preserve the relative power of artifacts where possible.
- 3Tweaks uses a different stamina system than AZTweaks. AZTweaks stamina drains much more slowly, but is much harder to recover. However, I felt that stamina in AZtweaks was overly dependent on flat restoration, so stamina in 3Tweaks recharges at all times-- even when attacking. Stamina costs are much higher, however, so your stamina works more as tempo in battle (fast draining, fast recovering) rather than your fuel meter. For me this feels subjectively better but I realize it is harder to balance, so feedback is appreciated!

None of this is to denigrate ApplesauceZ's fantastic work on AZTweaks, which I played across many characters and enjoyed immensely. Many of these comparisons are subjective, and 3Tweaks would not have existed without AZTweaks to lay the foundations for future Requiem overhauls.

Notes and Disclaimers:
- Fozar's Dragonborn Patch is required. Minor Arcana is optional. Mortal Enemies has been integrated into 3Tweaks and altered somewhat (turning restrictions are less harsh, so it is much harder to circle strafe enemies, but the forward power attack can still be sidestepped)
- I highly recommend sunny333456's Requiem - NPC statefix and any other of their mods that interest you. It buffs a ton of NPCs that Requiem didn't, and plays very nicely together with 3Tweaks.
- Violens or another killmove mod is also very highly recommended. I don't like killmoves, period, but if you don't use such a mod to turn off ranged killcams destruction magic will trigger killcams erroneously (an engine bug to which I have no solution)
- Load 3Tweaks.esp just before RftI to ensure all changes are in place.
- Big thanks to Ogerboss for helping me through this process and implementing a special feature into the Reqtificator just for my mod.
- Also thanks to ApplesauceZ for the groundwork he laid in his tweaks mod. 3Tweaks was built from the ground up, but a couple of scripts are lifted and improved upon from AZtweaks and a huge number of features were implemented with consideration to ApplesauceZ's methodology.
- I tried to make most changes in a "compatible" way so quest mods should largely work without patches. However, custom race mods and quest mods which add new humanoid NPC races will need 3Tweaks-specific patches due to the way 3Tweaks implements NPC health buffs. Feel free to ask if you have questions.

Than_Atoz's video explaining how the leveling system works and its merits to people who aren't sold on it. Big thanks to him.
