Lagertha and Shakti make a great team and those bandits and whatever is lurking in those ruins will have a very bad day.
For more effects to apply directly in the game on your characters, I highly recommend Slave Tats over at Loverslab. Don't let that name fool you, it's just a system to easily apply additional textures like splatter or tears with a MCM to the player or NPC. It's easy to use and it is both available for SE and LE. Especially the blood overlays from AlterNative are outstanding work, with some of them used in my last story.
