About this image

Still tweaking the dragon skeleton to have more impressive proportions. It clips oddly, and I'm afraid it won't be fully immersive and playable like rogueshot's, but it does take some nice screenshots.

The creature looks like it's under a lot of stress keeping its body and neck parallel to the ground, so at first I focused on curving and shortening the neck. You can imagine it had the same effect of ruining the killmove animations plus the dragon's voice attacks were directed at a 45' degree angle toward the ground. The animation's do not factor in the head being above the opponent, so I felt I had to choose between pointing the head down and having a larger melee-exclusive dragon, or keep the neck parallel thus settle for a much smaller creature that could use voice and melee. I chose the latter, as a consequence the killmoves have been utterly sacrificed.

In the end, I removed all my changes to the neck and took advantage of Dragon Animation Replacer to achieve the same effect directly through the animations. I hoped with DAR's help a compromise could be reached, so I'd have a medium sized dragon with passable killmove/bite animations with full use of the voice, but the collision issues put an end to that.

Do you still have the skeleton? I think we all would be interested to see how it looked.

I really like that - with some feathery wings that dragon would make an excellent, intimidating dinosaur. But I can see where it would cause some animation oddity.

I'm probably going to upload my skeleton within the next few days.

I uploaded a screenshot of my project to the SSE Nexus, if you're curious.

I look forward to when you get to releasing your skeleton. Wings clipping on the ground would be worth it, if I got a glimpse of seeing their wings in flight.

I experimented with Theropods based on the dragon skeleton too, but the kill animations were wacko after I shortened the neck. Have you seen that or are you leaving the neck full length?

I modified the dragon skeleton in an effort to make a species of "theropod-like" dragons for a personal project. I solved all the problems I could, but because the creature couldn't fly, it was hampered by the original collision, and as a consequence it would often zig-zag and catch on obstacles. Frustrating. The only setting it could work in would be a medium sized, obstacle free plateau.

Perhaps if your skeleton modification looks awkward walking on the ground, then maybe a solution could be making a new race of dragons that fight exclusively in the air? It would be frustrating to fight, but the instances where the immersion would be broken would be outweighed by the majesty of the rest.

Oh, now I really want to see the theropod dragons. I wonder if mihail could do something about the awkward collision?

Mine's animations are pretty much fine, the wings just clip through the ground pretty often. I mostly take screenshots of them in the sky though.
