The big, white borders do make it look like a gallery photo exhibition - of which it is definitely worthy.

Great set for the theme. I especially like the one of the giant approaching.

I know I'll be watching more art than regular images everytime I get into one of your sets, DV. Your eye for compositions and colours (or the lack of them) is a real beacon for all of us here at Nexus. During my four years as an active screenarcher, I've come across only a few that make more of this hobby than just snapping shots from the gameplay, or posing their characters or doing visual stories. I've done - and still do - all of these three myself, but I'm yet to emerge to an artistic level such as yours. I reckon it has to do with how much you love art in general. Art and images came into my life more or less by chance when I started working as an image editor at an image bank in Stockholm in the 90's. Before that, I was much more into words only and I've written a fair share of character backgrounds and short novels for my own purpose only. I fiddled with analogue photgraphy for a time thanks to that job and the inspiration I got when looking at professional slides taken my amazing photographers all day long. I even bought myself a setup of analogue equipment. I never got very good at it though, but it still layed the ground for my ability to use some sense of composition when screenshots entered my life as a new hobby back in 2015.
Whenever I see a set from you though, I know I have such a long way to go yet, but at the same time I can also look back to my early attempts and notice how far I've reached. So I keep my pace slow, but hopefully steadily forward and maybe some day I will achieve something similar to what you do...but through my eyes of course.

A marvel to behold your shots, it truly is!

Dang Rick, that's real kind of you to say. I wouldn't sell yourself short if I were you- you've certainly got 'the eye'. I like the way your eye is drawn to specific details within the game-world, or unusual angles or unexpected compositions of more typical subject matter. It's that originality, plus your constantly mutating, evolving style that makes you such an enjoyable screen-shooter to watch.

For my own part, much of my intention over the past little while has been to make my shots as 'crisp' as possible. Looking at other screen-shooters I admire, I find that often it's the clear distinction between foreground and background, primary focal point and environment, highlights and shadows, etc. that's attracted me to their work. Dramatic contrast of one sort or another helps to make a small image (I don't have a tremendously large monitor) stand out from the crowd. So that's what I'm working on developing, currently: strip the compositions down to the bare minimum of single subject/environment, reduce the palette to no more than three significant colors, and get real nit-picky about anti-aliasing and DoF effects. Hence, in this case the overwhelming blacks with bright spot lights to frame the focal points. The big borders are just me being self-consciously arty!

Thank you for that Napoleon, my eyes have now seen the beauty of black and white screens that is not seen in highly colorful images. The shadow in the 7th shot in is powerful, and the music you chosen for the set is excellent.

I have to now try out some new idea's when I start snapping screens next time I am in the game!!!

I use since a while an old Snapdragon version with your RevoLUTion and it´s a real pleasure. Very often I come back to Samhain, because I really like the colours. Gives a great fantasy vibe. In this case a post editing is not necessary and I like what you have done with pure b/w ... especially for this theme.
Your works are inspirations for me

Thanks BM! Glad to hear you're still getting some mileage out of the old warhorse. Most of my LUTs were toned way too bright for most ENBs (the original Caffeine the RevoLUTion! LUTs were made for was, for whatever reason, really dark looking to me). A few, like Samhain, hold up OK though since I didn't lift the shadows into total blow-out territory.
