Excellent chapter
I thought the change of style actually fits Galla quite well, she seems to be extremely cheery under the worst circumstances herself I do like your more Gloomy writing for her parents.
You way of wording is astonishing!
Also Happy Birthday!
I have finished most of your earlier stories (the previous two before this one) but was during lunch or treadmill with my tablet which doesn't let me comment much. So falling a bit behind. Been caring for sick dog, work is a bear lately, and playing some other games so been less focused on Nexus of late than my usual want.
It is nice to see you so active though and writing so much - wish I could get back into it myself. I have been a bit aimless since Grim retired as I put so much time and effort in his stories it is hard to decide what next or focus (not to mention all the work as well and I have some other priorities now). I have been writing for Fenn in Fallout 4 here and there, as well as Jonathan, but more shorter stories and lore.
Ah well enough rambling - good luck with finishing that MA and all that!
So sorry to hear about your dog. Is the good boy fine now? I'm sending you both my best wishes! Yeah, I totally get being busy - now that my MA is almost done I'm getting more and more tasks at work, not to mention family matters I have to take care of. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a new rhythm to my day - and I wish the same to you
Everyone experiences a block at times, especially after years and years of creative productivity. I remember you were always quite a well-known figure here (a mayor of our little town, so to speak... the Nexusville? Nexus-upon-the-Valley? I don't know where I'm going with this), and a very prolific author. With such an amount of world-building and immersion into your series it is natural that your brain needs a break before taking first steps into a fresh story. But it will be ready for a new chapter soon, you'll see.
Seldom out of ideas it is more energy. I can get a little OCD when I am working on a large saga (like a book with 20 chapters to be written) and it eats into my time and even work. Also, once, I started a long story when I was still burnt (the rise of the silverhand and how they planned to turn the common folk against Grim, the BWC, and all werewolves) and after 4 chapters abandoned it ... and felt so bad I deleted every post on it. Which was a shame as later when I was more energized I might have finished. Point being I don't want to commit to a year long story unless I think I can finish it.
I do miss those past days of glory on the nexus but time moves on as they say :) Anyhow thanks for the comments :)
Awesome entry, I was positively sure that Psijic will laugh at her reaction ^________^ Awwww, Galla is so adorable!
I always believed that adventuring is hard. Food, sleep, being warmed - everything is hard out in the wilderness, when the contents of a backpack are the only providers of said things. And I don't even start about delving into ruins and caves O_O But I also believe that it's something you can get accustomed to... Being a little homesick is perfectly normal in such situation anyway ^_^
I think such a serious and important spectre couldn't just break out laughing, now could it? It had to deliver its McGuffin of a message
Many happy returns have a great time.
Thank you, I had a happy birthday indeed.
Splendid set & writing as well.
I really like your new writing style when the author involves him/herself into the storytelling as a third person-view ... I don't know, how it is called exactly, but it's very entertaining, because I have the feeling that you speak directly with me, the reader, while you are telling the story...
Not to forget, your pics are brilliant as always
Great to hear you like this type of narration! This kind of voice is called "intrusive narrator," but there are some other types added to mix. I quite enjoyed writing in this manner so I'm glad it ended up readable.
Thanks again!
