You'll get there, just stay determined! Modding is a lot of trial and error...and a long slow learning process.
Many people took the time to help, advise and answer my questions, it's humbling how prepared people are to help.
It seemed that mixing way too much HD mods with script heavy mods was just not possible, had to cut quite a bit Your mod order method work wonders making decisions on modding.
But hopefully I gave you some ideas on how to organize. I searched long and hard for a way to mod Skyrim by category. Took me a long time to invent a way that worked for me and made sense. Still have to read description pages to see if something has to be installed before or after something else. Occasionally have to move a mod category up or down on my list. It's mostly a matter of knowing what you want to allow to be overwritten.
You can extract mod archives to get a sneak peak at what you will be installing. You just need SageThumbs to view textures as thumbnails and Nifskope to check out meshes. You would be surprised how many mods try to add new actors and facegendata. Mods you would never suspect!
The way I mod Skyrim is to try to avoid scripted mods as much as possible. A few are okay. I also try to keep esp's to under 150. I don't add new buildings, new trees, or anything else major that is not already there. There are enough items to load with the aged dx9 game engine as it is. I try to stick to mostly textures for the most part. Smoother meshes can come later but I cannot recommend SMIM highly enough. If I add anything extra that is not already in the game, it is usually armors, outfits, or weapons.
But no matter how worried you might be about bugging modders and mod authors, just keep asking questions. If anyone gets annoyed you can always come ask me. We all have our own ways of doing things, but you will develop your own unique style too. Mostly just a matter of learning to showcase your preferences on stuff.
Best wishes!
Then I quit for quite some time
Loading back my old load order + a lot of HD mods was just a bit too much so to say. So had to remove a lot of heavy scripting mods and mods that add too much content .
Even your drawing uses the same color sheme. You drew all the small details so well and your wor with the shades is outstanding
I think the image I wanted to portray did come over quite well, although I still have a lot to learn!
Had to add a bit more colour to the second shot so the brown in the drawing had a matching brown in the shot
These are great screenshots if they're your first, Chris! Compared to what I uploaded in the beginning, this is both interesting and atmospheric and you have even decided to stage the scene a bit (I'm guessing). If so, that's something I still haven't picked up on, so great work there!
I really like the colour scheme too with the b/w and the strokes of red. Makes the red theme stand in focus as well as gives the shots a rather grim and dark fantasy-sense about them. And of course, it's always a pleasure to see your skills in drawing. Everytime it reminds me I should find that old sketching pad of my own and start doing something aside from sitting in front of the PC all the time!
Great seeing you involved in this event again, for the RED theme, and this time with screenshots! Now you're hooked, I just know it! Thank you for being part of this, my friend!
I would love to see your work if you decide to pick up your old sketching pad.
Your idea with the themes is awesome!
I absolutely adore the bw/red style.... I completely ripped it off Izzy and Klaxoid (they were even kind enough to explain to me how to do it )
Had to repost the drawing, though it fit the theme well (and I really like it)
Did you use rampage for this ??
The drawing is also great,... you captured her characters spirit very well I think,..
Yeah this is Rampage, always loved how rampage worked for others
Always great to see your drawings as well
I should get back to drawing more often, just been so busy
The first two images most definitely put me in mind of John Borman's film "Excalibur" with all those armoured bodies lying in their own blood.
Love that drawing too"...all three images are very nice, neat work with the full meaning of "Red"
I have to admit as to no having seen that movie. However, I suspect it that mind set was once I tried to accomplice
Thank you!
