Larkspur as a father is fantastic
I like how you describe both positions ( the of the child and of the parents ), when a child is grown and starts to go it's own ways in life.
This is one of the most important moments for both and it's a key-moment for the further relationship between child and parent.
You did it in your wonderful sensitive way for the fine sublime emotions ...perfectly and well done with great pics

"Or have a shot at something unorthodox, like an honest talk with meand your mother. Something tells me it might work just fine.”

Brilliant work once again I really enjoy reading your stories

What a wonderful moment between father and daughter, one that when remembered will surely bring warmth to Galla's heart when she is far from home on unfamiliar roads she has yet to explore, those words reassurance and the wisdom in Larkspur's words is sure to help as well. I really like how you brought out her adventurous spirit in your words, one can really feel that enthusiasm to explore, that boundless curiosity about that which lies beyond the familiar. It is good that she has companions that she can depend on and she certainly seems a sly one like her father. Another fantastic part of your tales, my friend

Yes, she is quite an enthusiastic sort, isn't she? I'm still learning who she is, trying to find a balance between her parents' traits and her own mixture of attributes, so the feedback is priceless.

You really did a nice job with the nature shots and the feeling of being outside - beautiful and natural. I enjoyed the shots a lot in this set. They fit very well with the cozy home scenes and the sense of adventure of a traveler, helped by the outfits. It was also cute to see Lark as a father. He seems to be doing an okay job considering that perhaps it was not a role he was prepared for initially. I won't write a book this time as my hands are tired from a week of computer work but I enjoyed sitting and having my coffee and reading the story a lot. It was relaxing and cozy :)

Hey, it's okay! I never demanded essays or any comments at all (although I enjoy them immensely) - the knowledge that someone enjoyed reading whatever I concocted is a reward on its own.
Yeah, I wasn't sure if our Larkie here would be the best type of parent there is; on the other hand, however, he always seemed to take a role of a care provider of a sort, either for Saga or Alerik. So who knows? Maybe he's a natural and never realised

      Thank you for your comment!

Oh, such a wonderful little segment of the story! So well written and illustrated

And like Excellentium, I too have a teenage daughter, and I recognize the wisdom of her father's words. The only difference is that mine says she wants to "leech" off of us for awhile longer - she's not quite ready for adventure

I am so happy the story resonated, if only a bit, with actual parents - it is the best type of praise I could ever receive. I can only imagine how hard it is to raise another human being, and to be happy about the turnout, no less! You guys are great.

      Thank you for your comment!

This was such h a treat.

The story you wove here is heartfelt and earnest. I cannot think of a better beginning to a character. The father's words and the feelings between the two of them felt so realistic that I could almost feel her inner struggle as she finally took her first steps away from her home.

As a single father to a teenage daughter (and a boy), I very much enjoyed this chapter. Young ones always seem to believe the grass is more green beyond the next hill, or that adventures will bring treasures, fame, glory or knowledge. It does too, but often comes with a price to pay as well, either it's lonliness, the loss of moral instincts, the lack of sympathy or brooding inner darkness and greed you didn't know you possessed at all. As a father - or a mother - the protective wings are therefor wide when it comes to our children, even if we see and understand they're growing up.
I've always said to my daughter I'm willing to support her in her every decision, but it's getting harder to believe in those words now that she's nearing her young adulthood. Those protective wings are reacting a bit I guess. I do wish though, I will have the same wisdom as Larkspur, when the day comes when my daughter is ready for her adventures. He works perfectly as her father and I very much enjoyed the way he handled it all...

And your maiden is cute as a buttercup, very charming and lovely character!

Poetic writing comes with beautiful images to even more give a vision to your tale! Marvellous work!

Oh, thank you for sharing your story and experience as a parent! As a person who does all the spoiling and no actual parenting, I can only be grateful for the insight. I'm sure you'll manage just fine when your daughter starts her own adventure. After all, trust is a part of love, isn't it?

Thank you for your lovely comment. Kind words like these always make my day.
