About this image

Helgen
Once, a prospering garrison and trading outpost, famous for it's Juniper Mead.
Now, only smoldering ruins. Telling the tale of ghosts, murdered by a rampant dragon.
It is said that nobody had survived here. Nevertheless, rumors are spreading:

One or two imperial prisoners have esacped the chaos. A traitorous rebel and a young woman.
Rumors are, that she and the dragon had talked to each other, and that all had happened because of her.
That means she is the dangerous one.

And, if memory serves me correctly, soon to be over-run with bandits...

Shame what happened there, was kind of a nice little fort-town...

Yes, bandits take over. In my last game it was even on the seventh day. I thought I could loot the smoldering ruins in peace but i was too slow for that.
So again, Helgen became a bit "messy"

Huh. I thought Skyrim's usual reset time was 10-30 days, but I guess if you've been busy in Riverwood and Whiterun and have been avoiding the Helgen area, then it resets sooner. Usually, I finish looting Helgen right after I resolve the love triangle in Riverwood (one of the first things I do there, right after learning the arts of Smithing and Alchemy, and after selling my loot from Helgen), then I clear out the nearby mine (netting me a free pickaxe with which to mine ore; I tend to do a lot of Smithing), only heading to Whiterun after those two little excursions. Might be an idea to consider, should you do another play-through...

Currently, I go for roleplaying approaches and play so on high difficulties. That tends to make my life real hard and forces me a bit to think as if it were my "real"life. Same goes for moralilty. My collection of mods raises the difficulty even more and prevents me from looting buckets of valuables and becoming stupidly rich in the first game week.

So, in-game I call a trip to High Hrothgar "stupid" "dangerous", "what for?" and "Just because bearded old man on mountain tops are shouting? No way!"
