Reading the posts below, looks like your best option with mods would be Shut The Followers Up.
If it doesn't help, then in CK choose another male voice, one that followers do not use, like the Nord male. Know by doing this you loose the dialogue options, such as "Please follow me", on that matter, you simply have to put in a little script/quest to allow it...of simply by forcing him to join you, I strongly believe AFT has this implemented; same goes for disbanding, I am still trying to figure out how to script this but it's no biggie, all voice acted followers have to do it, so it's very possible.

I've never attempted a standalone follower but there has to be some way to keep the poor fella quite.
The hard part comes from when people have a lot of addons, like frecklemania. That's added with racemenu, so I can get it on the face no problem, but on the body I would have to somehow blend the freckle texture onto the diffuse, which Is way beyond me.
Thankfully most just have makeup, which are easily done with racemenu export. Worst case the body textures might be a bit off, and everyones clothed so it's not too much of an issue.
