Barely escaping the eruption of Red Mountain, Jaiden Delen found herself in an “out-of-the-frying-pan-into-the-fire” situation when she arrived on the docks of Windhelm as a refugee from Morrowind. The Nords were far from welcoming. A civil war between the Empire and Stormcloak separatists was raging. Talk of dragons killing and destroying indiscriminately. Whispers of growing vampire attacks. And the appearance of a group of vampire hunters called The Dawnguard looking to recruit anyone brave—or perhaps foolish enough to join them.

“Should've stayed back in that ash-pit and took my chances,” Jaiden told herself.

Fortunately, she found temporary refuge at Hlaalu Farm outside Windhelm. It was there where the owner, Belyn Hlaalu told Jaiden of The College of Winterhold. Winterhold's isolated location and the college would be the perfect place for Jaiden to quietly blend in, while improving her craft as a mage.

Of course, the Eye of Magnus Jaiden unwittingly discovered underneath Saarthal and the re-appearance of the Psijic Order as a result, quickly changed the “quietly blend in” part.

With the help and guidance of Senior Wizard Tolfdir, the college and the Psijics, Jaiden foiled a Thalmor plot to seize control of The Eye Of Magnus, preventing it from not only destroying Tamriel but perhaps Mundus itself. For the role she played in that endeavor and in light of Arch-Mage Aren's untimely death, Jaiden Delen became the new Arch-Mage of the college.

The Black Horse Courier has attempted on numerous occasions to interview Arch-Mage Delen on recent events in Winterhold connected to rumors of something found underneath the ruins of Saarthal. The re-appearance of the Psijic Order long thought to have vanished. The death of Arch-Mage Aren. “Anomalies” attacking the devastated coastal town. And similar “disturbances” on a larger scale around the college. The new Arch-Mage has declined our inquiries and requests for an interview, as have the college's staff and students.

“She seems agreeable enough for a Dark Elf. She's certainly more popular with the townsfolk than that Aren fellow was—not to speak ill of the dead. And she ah...did perform a service or two for my hold,” Jarl Korir of Winterhold told us. “I have no problem with her, so long as she and those mages up in that college don't cause anymore...problems.”

The Courier has learned that the new Arch-Mage was last seen with her adopted son Zirain; a priestess of Azura named Aranea Ienith, and a Dunmer mercenary Thalsa, on a ship out of Windhelm named The Northern Maiden, to Solstheim.
