Ha Ha! I wondered who she was, thinking at first that she was a powerful vampire or something (Up until her little home suddenly appeared)
Oh what is naughty Boethia up to? Playing Rathe and Quin at the same time?
I knew there were twists coming but didn't expect this!!!!
And I was going to go to sleep after this one...Not happening! On to the next!!

I had to blurt out loud as I read....... don't trust this thing that appears to be feminine Rathe..... and then oh she knows to damn much.
Then it all came together...... "Champion".
What cruel joke is about to be played I wonder?
Damn he gave Jade a concussion ... hit her just a bit too hard. But hopefully knocked some sense into her.
loved the sounds as I read...... enjoying your tale very much Jess.

Thanks hon! She was certainly sending up some red flags wasn't she?! And Rathe couldn't see any of them! And poor Jade who could see got put under the whammy spell and knocked out... again!

As to what it all means, what Prince B's grand plan... I can't say but she's certainly one step closer to her designs now

Wonderful, mysterious chapter and images! This is moving along quite nicely as I've been hoping wink, wink. How fortunate for this weary pair to find, or more likely, be found by this good samaritan (cough) offering them shelter from a hard days journey. I hope Rathe heeds the advice he's been given. Interesting that he doesn't question their host as to how she knows so much about him and his past. Better answered tomorrow cuz he has business to attend to tonight. I get the feeling that we've seen the last of the farmers daughter, for now anyway. Can't wait to read more about Cicero's whereabouts; what's Quin's part in that; and what's gonna happen... up the ladder in the loft!

Thanks sweetie! Yes things are certainly moving (or being moved) in a very particular direction. This "farmers daughter" might just have something else behind or machinations than just seeing Rathe and Jade find solace in each other's arms. And Rathe is too blind to see her for what she really is. But he can't hide from the truth forever (or perhaps I should say, the truth will catch up with him sooner rather than later ).

Jade was certainly in a bad state after that battle, that wound that kept her out of the way leaving her unsteady and sick, not having the words to match her scowl at what Rathe had done, I am sure she would have some choice words for him otherwise. It seems Rathe feels some responsibility for Jade among his pragmatism, having carried Jade till his arms and back protested even with him having already been weary from lack of rest. It was certainly an unusual figure that appeared from the forest by no coincidence that is clear, one with an odd lack of fear of an assassin wielding a blade for one that appeared as but a farmer's daughter. That Jade sensed something off about the dunmer even in her state and Rathe did not with his usually keen senses is no good thing, the fangs beyond the mask well hidden from him.

It is unfortunate that Jade was not able to warm him, drifting off into an unwanted sleep before she could speak a word. I still wonder about that motive veiled behind Beothia's words about Jade, about letting her in as he had Fleur, what she intends to do with this connection remains unclear. I like how you described that unsettling feeling of the house, that stifling, suffocating heat, that reflection of the powerful aura of a daedric being. I think you depicted Beothia well, there is an insidious, scheming aspect to her nature which fits her use of a touch of seduction to manipulate Rathe. A very intriguing chapter with a great tension to it, Jess

Thanks Alexi. Yes I imagine if Jade had been in her right mind she would have had a few choice words for Rathe about his rather heavy handed way of removing her from the fight lasts chapter. But you're right, what might have been simple pragmatism regarding her welfare last chapter certainly seems to be more than that this chapter with him carrying her as he did. One might think genuine tenderness.

The simple Dunmer farm girl was certainly much more than she appeared. Her ability to be calm Rathe alone showed who she really is. But her plans are still somewhat more difficult to discern. You hit the nail on the head with words like insidious and scheming; that's Boethias resume!

Oh, wow, very intense chapter gain that kept on hedge of my seat with awesome shots and music to add to the incredibly atmosphere!

Well, first I don't believe in the goodness of thus Dunmer heart at all... her words "My champion" immediately sell her out. I can say that it is most amazing and masterful portrayal of Boethia I've ever read. Such awesome description of this tempting, cunning snake who knows great deal of what happens in hearts and soul but cares only for her own amusement... Interesting thing that Jade noticed something 'off' with Dunmer but she could not overcome Daedra power and was mute to say anything and Rathe... like on multiple occasions with Fleur he did not pay attention to his female companion unspoken words that might result in another cruel heartbreak for him...

Boethia seems to know how to play Rathe and her skill at seduction is legendary given Morrowind books about her... I think no mortal man can sand a chance against her 'charms' if she wants to... and she certainly got Rathe hot, bothered and almost mad with desire. He did not even question her knowledge of his past or her trying to get into his pats while trying to set him for sexy time with Jade. Probably Boethia got him under spell, besides Rathe had too long pause in sexual life to think clearly, even without spell casting! I guess what Boethia plan is... first make Rathe close to Jade (let her in), then make a reveal of her plans, of Maven, of everything and make him snap and kill Jade, so she could have him all by herself as champion and maybe more...
Judging from playful teaser, I bet next chapter will be very hot in every way... but things not looking good for both Rathe and Jade with Boethia around. and i did nor forget about Quin too!
I would look forward for continuation and thank you or sharing your awesome work!

Thanks Nataly! This was a particularly tense chapter. The Dunmer most certainly gave both herself and her intentions away with her omnipresent knowledge about things a simple farm girl shouldn't have been able to know, but mostly with her use of the word Champion.

I don't know if I'm writing Boethia right, I tend to think she should be more warlike and someone like Mephala should be the more seductive Prince. Still, she's certainly got a lot of hold over our Broody right now. He's almost completely under her thrall at present. And whatever she plans for him and Jade I think she's moving it one more important step forward by getting them to sleep together.

How Rathe might react after giving himself to Jade, if he should find out about her involvement with Maven could be bad. But that's for future chapters

And you're wise not to forget about Qreepy Quin; he'll make a return all to soon!

Great chapter dear ! As always we are kept on our toes as we know there have to be something waiting for us just around the corner ! An other intrigue to build up the tension. Oh Rathe..carrying Jade for gods know how long...only to tell himself he need a rest..yeah when was the last time Mister Broody had a good night sleep? ...then again I'd say that a good night sleep isn't the only thing he needs...*cough*

That Dunmer from the moment she showed up out of nowhere...been thinking that nope she CAN'T be a good Samaritan coming to help them..that can only be Boethia pretending to be wanting to help them..but it look suspicious as hell !...Jade noticed that but was silence before she could voice anymore protest.

Rathe's mind really messed up and clouded to have missed all the red flags from the moment they stepped into the house. How can that dunmer KNOW all of that stuff..how could she possibly be aware of what he is trying to do?..know about Regan,Astrid..Fleur. And as Jon mentioned...how is someone trying to help you by having you get with someone while at the very same time trying to get in your pants ( Ok of course that must of been to get him horny...because lets face it...Rathe not only need a good night sleep..he needs to get laid)...but the biggest red flag was those little words the Dunmer said...." My champion". That just screams that something is off..but obviously Boethia have them under a spell.

Things sure aren't looking very good right now. Can't wait for next chapter...you tease !

Edit: On a completely unrelated note, heard a song that just made me think of MR. Broody ( Where is the Edge - Within Temptation)

Thanks Lia! Indeed our Broody is exhausted and in need to a rest.... and other activities that take place on a bed

That Dunmer lass was certainly lighting up the red flags with her sudden appearance, the way she unsettled Jade, and so quickly got through Rathe's defences. It was made clear with her use of the word Champion how she could possibly know all that she knew however. The Prince of Plots seemed hard at work this chapter, manipulating the poor addle brained Rathe into... well, into whatever comes next.

I'm going to look up that song... if or tickes me I might use it as background music

Very interesting story. That Dunmer can only be Boethia trying to make her final ploy. Let Rathe open his heart to Jade so she can than betray him (or seem to betray him as I am sure Boethia is setting them both up) and utterly destroy what decency and good remains in him - making him totally Boethia's.

Clearly she is not trying to heal Rathe or Jades soul in any way. And why would someone who wanted to help do good by getting them together try and seduce him at the same time? Oh of course she did it to make him horny (when was the last time he had sex anyhow) but he should be asking himself why does this lady come on to me at the same time she wants me to make love to Jade? His mind is clearly fucked up.

Things don't look good for any of them right now. One can only hope that maybe Boethia's plan will backfire. Rathe will let Jade in and then moments before he kills her (when Quin shows up, per the previous story when he discovered Jades secrets, and shows that she meant to betray her causing Rathe to go all ballistic) he changes his mind. Course I suspect, knowing your style, he won't understand until too late and yet another female will find her demise at his hands (whether directly or indirectly as all the females he has tried to help have all died in the end ... he is like a male version of the Black Widow). So even if he does escape Boethia's plan it won't really matter as he is pretty much doomed no matter what he does at this point.

Wonderful story and great images. The old mill was a great idea for this place and nice work building up the suspense!

Thanks Jon! Yes, the Dunmer lass most certainly gave herself away with her word Champion, but also in her very demeanour and seductive actions. She most certainly has a long term plan and it seems to hinge of Rathe and Jade getting close. And as you said, if she was trying to do that to make them heal one another or 'save' one another then why seduce Rathe in the first place? No, she's all about plotting and deceiving.

Prince B has invested a lot of time and energy into this plan and things have been working towards her grand goal for a while now. She has agents in place to manoeuvre things (Quin) and other tricks up her sleeve too (remember the gold ring) so it's unlikely that Rathe will just wake up to her and her ploys.... but he's not without his own allies. But yes, one cannot deny the toll of death that is associated with Rathe - especially those who do get close to him.

But no hints or spoilers you'll just have to wait and see!

Oh, if this isn't a particularly cruel set-up by Boethia, I don't know what is....

How that Daedric Prince instantly stifled the opposition of Jade and put her into an exhausted stupor when she became acutely suspicious of that strange, pretty little "Dunmer lass"....

Why would a farmer's daughter even talk to strangers on the road, especially well-armed ones at that, in the first place?? ^^

Can't wait for the following chapter.

    Endorsed.
    Thanks and cheers, dear!

Thanks hon! Yeah, everything about this situation screamed setup didn't it! And the fact that Rathe just went willingly with the little Dunmer lass speaks volumes about his state of mind... and Her hold over him. And now She has him exactly where She wants him.

First off. Stunning Chapter; absolutely Fitting Music and lovely shots. Now I want to believe that the Dunmer Lady wants to help Rathe. But there is that naggin voice in my head constantly telling me: "It is a Jess Story! It is a Jess Story! Keep watchful!" .. and that I did.

While I think the Dunmer is right with her Statements; calling Rathe "my Champion" makes me wonder who she is. My best bet is another attempt of Boethia at getting control over Rathe; because as far as I can recall Rathe is not alligned with any other prince that could call him "Champion". And from previous Chapters Boethia did Show some interest. Not sure how that would work out in this Case; but I do hope Rathe is careful.. Don't trust the Young looking red eyed Dunmer ladies living on their own!

Thanks Alex! Glad you liked this chapter and yes, nothing is ever what it seems! The Dunmer lass most certainly wanted Rathe and Jade to be warm and cozy in her home, but her reasons for wanting this might not be so much about their wellbeing... and yes, the word Champion is the giveaway; there's only one Prince who wants Broody as Her champion... and She'll do just about anything to get him!

Boethia is going through the entire bag of tricks to get Rathe to become her champion!

Pretty Dunmer farmer showing up at just the right time, after fatigue had set in and nothing would feel better than a warm fire and hot food. Well, at least this time it was the farmer getting Rathe all hot and bothered instead of the Night Mother!

I wonder if Sithis is taking any interest in this, or maybe he doesn't care (my lore is pretty bad so perhaps Sithis doesn't count among the games the Princes play). Anyway, great writing and I will be looking forward to the next chapter.

Thanks Wadelycan! Yes, She has invested a lot of time and energy into Her plan and She wants to see it come to fruition. She just has to know what are the right buttons to push.

I'm playing this out as though Sithis is too far removed from the plains of the Princes and Nirn to be overly concerned, he is , however, The Night Mothers husband so I'm sure he'll have some kind of interest in what goes on if it starts to directly threaten her!
