Edrelle certainly played the part of a noble well and perhaps Tacita and the others thought a little too well!
But it was enough to give Honey Stripes the time she needed. Although it left a certain guard more than a little confused!
The banter between your highly developed characters is for me always the best part of your work. Especially the Khajiit speak which you write so well.
My favorite part however is where Honey Stripes makes one of her famous disappearances leaving the others wondering how she does that!!
Fantastic chapter my friend!!
Edrelle has certainly learned very well how those arrogant nobles she stole from acted, better than Tacita had thought it seems
The distraction did end up working out well with that guard sent wandering about, he is sure to wonder what happened that day, thinking it a dream perhaps.
Makes me smile that you think that banter is the best past of my work, I never tire of writing that khajiit speak :-)
How exactly Honey Stripes does those disappearing acts certainly a question with answers as elusive as she is ;-)
Thanks a bunch, Aok
the eloquent description of the dress.... a beautiful dress made all the more dazzling by your words.
a great enjoyment of time spent with your tale.
The playful banter with Joridis, Aela and Akhaz'iir was well done and shows the fondness they have for each other. Enjoyed Aela's brash approach to thing and was good to see Jordis step up and convince the guard to let them see the general.
Sadly politics always get in the way even when trying to save the world - people just can't seem to see past their own concerns to the bigger issue. The whole problem with the Civil War actually - too few see the real danger behind all of this, the Thalmor (and Alduin of course). The general wants them to do him a favor first before he will do one for them ... when in fact Akhaz'iir is doing the entire country a favor ... actually all of Tamriel. If Alduin is not defeated you can be sure it won't be just Skyrim that suffers.
Edrelle as a noble ... surely even if Alduin was not in the skies this would be a clear sign that the end of time was nigh. She played it very well ... apparently a bit too well since Tacita teased her about it. She does look good in that dress (something she saw in a dream it seems lol; liked that) and did a nice job diverting the poor guard while Honey Stripes went and borrowed the report they needed.
Turns out their mission may coincide with that of Akhaz'iir which seems very convient. Perhaps the fates, or the gods, or the Princes, have a hand in this. Will be nice to see everyone working together and good that they all get along ... working with such a large and diverse team can often be difficult. But I am sure they, and you, will manage.
Beautiful shots (which I highlighted on Flickr since it was easier that way) and enjoyed how well they went with the story. A great morning read Alexi, thank you for sharing another one of your tales with us.
Was nice to write that playful banter with Jordis back in the group, glad you though it was well done, there certainly is that fondness between them. Aela certainly is not one to like to be stalled by a guard with much on the line, Jordis gained some confidence while the scout was away, helping her with that bit of convincing.
Politics certainly make it more difficult when one tries to deal with the true dangers to the world, with leaders focused on their own concerns, even having seen first hand the power of Alduin. I agree that most are blinded to the real dangers by that war, not seeing the puppet strings that drew them into war or Alduin's shadowy maw approaching. The general is certainly not doing any good for Tamriel by delaying those talks, sending the scout on that favor, he is playing an odd game with so much at stake.
Hehe, if she had truly become an arrogant noble one might have to worry about the fate of the realm ;-) Edrelle is very familiar with how the arrogant ones among the nobles act ... having not seen her play such a role Tacita had to tease her a little, having nearly convinced even her that she was a noble. Dimitri certainly though the same thing about her in that dress (I am glad you liked what inspired her illusion, that odd dream) she did send that guard on quite the futile search, giving Honey Stripes the time she needed to borrow that report.
It certainly is more than a coincidence that they seem to be seeking the same mysterious figure, you may be right one of the gods or princes, or a few of them had some role in that, she does have the attention of a few of them. It is sure to be an experience for all of them, seeing each others skills in action, having become quick friends. Making the most of their large group and their many skills will be a challenge but as you say, they and me will figure things out.
I am very glad you liked the shots, it is always interesting to know which ones caught your attention among them, and that they went well with the tale. Thanks a bunch, Jonathan, I am always happy to share another tale
Edrelle has very cool plan of passing as a noble while her friend will get an information. Edrelle looked stunning in her lovely, stylish dress and I guess Dimitri would wish that illusion to stay on a while longer!
And Akhaz'iir faced another trial... General is always such a gloomy, cranky person, too bad that he does nothing for free and scout has to bring back those stolen plans or there will be no peace talks about treaty... Hopefully Akhaz'iir and Edrelle will he;p each other!
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work and I will look forward for continuation!
Edrelle does have an fondness for illusory distractions and she though appearing as a noble would work particularly well in the blue palace with many a noble passing through, she would smile you liked her plan. I am glad Edrelle made the stunning sight in that dress, Dimitri did wish his glimpse of Edrelle in elegant dress had been a little longer.
Speaking to the General was certainly a trial in itself, serious and gloomy as he is with his thoughts always on his war efforts, only agreeing to the scout's words if he brings back those plans. With the skills of Akhaz'iir and Edrelle and their friends they are sure to be able to help each other. Thank you very much for sharing your feedback as ever, Nataly, glad you look forward to learning what will unfold next
I was not surprised that after Akhaziir, Aela and Jordis finally got to meet Tullius (after he deigned to even acknowledge their presence) that he would only offer his help on the proviso they do a task for him. They are offering to bridge the chasm of war yet the short-sighted General only sees their assistance in the short-term. Sad but unfortunately, so true in the way of the world (both ours and Bethesdas! ).
At least Edrelle, Tacita and Honey had better luck in their investigations. Edrelle looked stunning in her illusionary gown and she sure played the part of a noble very well indeed, bossing about the poor guardsmen she encountered. I love how Honey thought with talents like those, Edrelle would make a good spy. I think dimitri would also have loved to have seen Edrelle in that gown for a little longer too
So now the parties must work through the clues and tasks given and hopefully they can help each other in their continued new and mutual alliance.
Beautiful images as always and your flowing, poetic descriptions are always a treat to read.
The leaders on both sides of the foolish conflict over those cold lands are predictable sorts sometimes, never ready to agree to something without wanting something in return, even with that offer to bridge the chasm of warm (I like how you describe it), looking to further their war efforts rather than dealing with the dragons that threaten them all. It is true that short-sightedness is an affliction of our world and that of Nirn.
Edrelle, Tacita and Honey Stripes were lucky they did not have to deal with a stubborn general in their investigation, made things go smoother. Very glad you thought she looked stunning in that illusionary gown, it was quite fun to write her dialogue as she played the noble, her time stealing from nobles sure helped her out in the role. I am happy you love that part with Honey's thoughts of Edrelle having the talents to make a good spy, if her path had been slightly different she might have indeed been one. I am sure you are right that Dimitri would have loved to have seen her in that gown longer, perhaps he will see her in it again
Both parties must indeed combine their skills to deal with their tasks and working through clues they might not have found otherwise, an alliance that is sure to benefit them both.
It is a joy to hear that you found the images beautiful and that my descriptions were a treat to read, I enjoy sharing them. I really appreciate having your thoughts on the tale, Jess
