Oh she is lucky to be yet living....I think. She better take that warning VERY seriously. To throw blame once again into Rathes face for the acts of the Albino. I am amazed he didn't kill her right there for that!
Why is the Night Mother doing this????
    Fantastic work hon!

I really have to tell you where ever Zuzu is she needed hunted down and whipped till she is in little pieces of flesh on the ground. That woman knows no end to her ways to make poor Rathe suffer.

Now Selena, hmmmmm not all that brave when sitting at the feet of the Great Rathe is she....... well no wonder, he is not the sort to forgive and forget.... whatever she is up too , I almost pity her for what he will do but then I remember how she beat him half to death and think well hey choices

Amazing chapter with stunning shots....... on to next chapter cant wait

Sorry so behind, but this last chapter just about did me in lol........ but done and can now give your and Jon, Kami, Aok stories the comments they deserve yay..........

Hahahaha, you're so funny hon! "I almost pity her for what he will do but then I remember how she beat him half to dead and think well hey choices!" Priceless.

She's an interesting character is all i'll say. Quite different now to where she was in my head when I was planning all this. She's taken on a life of her own. But more on that in coming chapters

Thanks hon and never be sad for being 'behind' ; you read and follow because you want to, not obliged to!!

By the Gods did ZuZu ever mind-warp young Selena to elicit such misplaced devotion....like what's happening to the Dark Brotherhood now: Boethia trying to usurp the Night Mother's power and cause discord from within by mind-slaving certain members, and insidiously inserting a proverbial thorn like Selena in the DB's side....that sounds almost ZuZu-esque, wouldn't you say? ^^

The Night Mother would most probably NOT be merciful towards anyone who would harm her Listener, yet here it happens....this situation absolutely stinks strait to the Void!

Speaking of ZuZu, any bets as to which Plane her putrid soul went? Coldharbour? Attribution's Share?
Mephala's Web? or the VOID? ^^

    Endorsed.
    Warm thanks and cheers, dear!

Oh don't those Daedra know how to twist a mortal around their fingers (or tentacles). Indeed Boethias antics are very ZuZu-esque (which is my new favourite way of saying machiavellian). You wonder where her soul ended up? Judging by Boethias love of torturing Rathe and causing mayhem, I'd hazard a guess that She took in Regan's soul!

As for the genuine NM, well, once she gets free of her current situation, I'm sure her vengeance against Boethia will be swift and terrible!

      Thanks for following hon!

So Regan is in Attribution's share....interesting....will Boethia perhaps invite Rathe to his/her "Tournament of the Ten Bloods" sometime?

Somehow I seriously doubt that his sis will be cheering from the stands for her UNbeloved bro....^^

"....her vengeance against Boethia will be swift and terrible!"

I would most definitely NOT want to be in Quin's boots when THAT happens! ^^
I can almost anticipate Boethia's little b1#ch the Qreepy one then exclaiming in abject terror:
      " Oh Sh*t!! "

      Mouhahahahahahahahaha!
      Cheers, dear!

Great story and images Jess - you did a great job with setting up the scenes for the interrogation. I went back and reviewed them a second time and they lined up nicely.

So for this comment just going to give you my initial gut impressions without trying to over-think or analyze things - just so you know how your writing hit me and how I reacted. The only caveat is that I am writing from the point of view of the DB and that Rathe is not a hero. I am writing everything from a DARK point of view.

Quin - I know he is pure scum but honestly I liked him in this chapter. I liked that Rathe thanked him and that he was watching out for Rathe in a way. Of course I am 95% sure it is pure bullshit on his part and I do not trust him. But for this one isolated story I liked him. I also detest Jade with a passion and frankly totally enjoyed him slapping the crap out of her. Shame Rathe did not let him teach her some respect.

Jade - Hate her. She is the kind of female I absolutely despise. Not only does she have many of Fleur's bad traits (which luckily Fleur grew out of) but she also has tons of other bad traits. I won't get into why I hate her type other than to say I just couldn't stand her attitude, personality, or mind. It isn't that she is evil though - I still like Astrid as one of my favorite evil NPC's in the game. I also like Maven Black-briar. I like them for being strong and self-sufficient and confident. Women who made it in a mans world. Jade is just a blind wh*%# who lacks the intelligence and self-control to see beyond things. At the moment I have zero sympathy for her.

Rathe - Thought he was perfect in this story. His drinking made me a little nervous as the thing I like about Rathe is his control and keen mind (as well as that taunt body and his skill). I like that overall he controlled his rage. I also liked that he drew the line with the NM and Jade - saying the NM can rot if Jade crosses him again. I still want to see him take a torch to that putrid pile of bones. Rathe needs to be his own man, not a puppet to the NM (or anyone else for that matter). I did not really see him as evil in this story. Jade tortured him and supports ZuZu. I think he was way to lenient on her myself. A few hours with Quin would set her straight and well deserved.

So that was my gut reaction. Enjoyed the tension and you did an awesome job of really making Jade so despicable, at least to me. Also good job keeping respect for Rathe as he was in control pretty much the whole time.

Now on to the next chapter!

Thanks hon! I always review from gut reaction so I appreciate you doing the same; I know I'm at my most honest and critical from gut reaction and I'd expect it's the same with you too.

I'm so surprised you liked Quin this chapter! I thought this was him at his most despicable, all bullying and cruel. But then I'm not in the I-Can't-Stand-Jade fan club and I guess that's just because I'm her creator (and I'm a couple of chapters ahead ). Anyway, Quin totally is scum... but boy do I enjoy writing him!

As I said about Jade, you're supposed to totally hate her... at the moment! That may (or may not) change as things go. Just keep in mind that I like my women as strong as my men

Well, I always love Mr Broody every chapter... but I'm pretty biased. I too love him most when he's in control and cool; I liken him to the character of Angel from the Buffy show... tormented, evil at times but with a good soul underneath it all. Interesting choice of word to use; "puppet"... I used the exact same word in a couple of chapters time...

Anyway, thanks again hon... you know how I value your comments

Quin sure likes to question Rathe's every action and mock him with that mention of fluffing his pillows and massaging his feet, that is a unwise of him especially with his anger still near the surface, Rathe countered his words quite well with stern one's of his own. Quin seems an odd sort to thank, to have one's life saved by with how much he enjoys dealing death.

I see that Jade's will has not taken a hit even in her current situation, speaking such barbed words to him, trying to hold back the answers to his questions, they certainly have very different views on Zuzu, Jade having heard Zuzu's twisted view of what Rathe had let happen to her, not seeing the monster that Rathe had seen. It is good that Rathe has ordered Quin to stay away from Jade with whatever cruel plans he had for her. Now on to the second part

Thanks Alexi and I apologise for putting you through such a violent chapter! Many thanks for your continued support (the writings will ease up from such tension in subsequent chapters! )

Quin is definitely an odd one. He seems to enjoy tormenting Rathe - or is it merely just his nature? Either way, he's definitely playing a dangerous game with his words (and actions)... one day his tongue or hands will land him in some serious hot water!

Jade herself has a backbone of steel, being able to face down the Listener and continue to carp at him despite his 'dog' beating her. Her motives might seem obvious for her intense anger and hatred to Rathe... but sometimes all is not as it seems

Thanks again for commenting and following dear.

Awesome continuation. Still very intense. I have to agree with Nataly....He looks mighty fine in that black attire..but i sure wouldn't complain if he forgot his clothes again..in more peaceful circonstances!

Rathe sure is in bad shape from Jade's torture..also seem that the brotherhood don't have any healers amongst their rank..There is something so infuriating in Quin's demeanor. He's both disrespectful and respectful toward the Listener, though his show of respect is more often then not in a very sarcastic way and mocking way. Sure looks like he only does it to mock him. Eh I think Rather should of taken Quin's offer to get his pillow fluffed and feet massaged...lol..maybe his chamber pot emptied too ! ( That'll teach Quin some respect !!! lol)

So Jade..well Selena, was accepted in the brotherhood..hm..intriguing. Yet I still feel more that she's a kind of prisoner...though I have this feeling that something is very fishy. Odd that she would talk about free will....prisoner have very little, if none of that. She sure still got alot of fight in her..though her refusal to answer the question earned her a beating from the all too eager Quin. It sure was made clear that she best avoid Rathe at any cost if she value her life any. And once again...Quin questions Rathe's decision...Though quite the interesting theory about fear being respect

Off to the second part ^^
    Wonderful word dear !!

Thanks Lia! Yes, as I said to Nataly, I felt bad about making such a lengthy and intense chapter... then following up with a second one in the same night, but they really were meant to be viewed / read together to answer some key questions.

Pity Darius got snuffed by Quin otherwise HE might have been able to heal Rathe with a snap of his fingers. That lad showed promise. Oh yes, Quin is certainly mocking and disrespectful to Rathe, but it's something more even... jealousy? Envy? And whatever it is that causes him to act that way, Rathe is too much of a man to rise to it.

Jade is an interesting one. She definitely has fire and stubbornness (even to her own detriment) but at the same time there are incongruities in the way she acts. She's a mystery to be sure... and a mystery that pushes the Listener's buttons... something the NM is all to well aware of

      Thanks again dear!

this is awesome continuation, wonderfully written chapter and so very intense, as much as previous one but now it was emotionally intense mostly! Great shots to! I admit I very much like Rathe in this black casual attire of his... although I would prefer him to forget his clothes once more, only in peaceful circumstances.

Poor Rathe, he sure got it bad from Jade's torture and still suffers, he sure needs some good quality rest and not another encounter with insufferable Jade! I think coarse language was perfect in such circumstances for both Jade and Rathe has so many problems with each other and i can't imagine them being polite about it.

So Jade's real name is Selena? As I recall Selena means 'moon' in one of languages, and I guess it is very fitting for her, although I was shocked that Night Mother seems to accept her into hold as a sister. Is she trolling Rathe or there is some other purpose in that? Jade reminds Rathe of his sister so even being in her presence grates his nerves, while her accusations made him enraged... while Quin wanted blood.
However I understand Rathe's caution... he is following one of Five Tenets that say not to kill other member of Dark Brotherhood... however there was nothing said about psychical harm, like when back in Oblivion vampire Vicente threatened to drink a pint of blood of Antoinette for her horrible cooking... it would not be violation of tenet, so Quin kinda had a point.

And Jade is a piece of work! Her crush into ZuZu sure brings her a lot of problems... besides she is too blind to see her strange affection in different way for Rathe was right, if ZuZu wanted to have Jade screwed up by dozens of men at once, she would have ordered it without hesitation. however Jade is stubborn, stuck in her perceptions... she reminded me of Fleur because of this stubbornness only Fleur has other things to stood up for. I wonder how Jade and Rathe relationship will unfold...
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work! Off to next chapter!

P.S. Selina and Selena are different names, as far as I know, so I doubt these two ladies can be mistaken for one another, besides they look totally different.

Thanks Nataly. This was pretty heavy on the tension (and text) especially followed up by Part 2, but was necessary to answer a few lingering questions. I felt bad about bullying Jade in this chapter, but I wanted to show a) that Quin is brutal and cold right down to his bones, and b) that Rathe really is a villain himself. He might have been soft and sweet with Fleur, but he's capable of bad stuff.

I had to put in a little disclaimer about Selena's name (despite their spelling being different) as I felt sure SOMEONE would surely ask if they were the same girl. I'd not have used so similar a name but I wanted to stay true to her Mod creators vision of her. As for the NM's interest in her, i love the way you described it as maybe her way of trolling Rathe. In a sense that's kind of true (as discussed more in Part 2).

Interesting comparison between Jade and Fleur. In many ways they ARE quite similar (the stubbornness, the ability to face down the Listener of the DB and still be able to speak up), but in other ways, they are worlds apart. It certainly WILL make for an interesting relationship and something that will be fleshed out later.

Thanks for your comments as always my dear!
