That happens because the Barbarian armor is not SAM compatible. Unfortunately in order for SAM to work as of now, besides the 4 refits (_0, _1, Samson and Samuel) each armor must fill a number of requirements in order to work flawlessly. But with time the number of armors available for it will increase ofc.
