Ugh, the whispering comments inside the library made so disgusted, not going to be able looking at those students the same way again.
And yes indeed the best way is for oneself; which was why I quit almost a year ago since it almost started feeling like a job, but it's coming back to me now!
(*Still working on the episode = got sick and been busy this week so haven't felt like it*)
Aye if I felt it was work I would not do it. But I enjoy writing very much even if my writing is a bit hacked I just like doing the images and daydreaming a lot about Grim's adventures with his friends. Once that happens I tend to get the urge to write them down. Sharing them helps make them more concrete because they are on "paper" instead of just inside my head. In addition to being inside other peoples heads when they read them :-)
Getting that out of the way, I must say: Thank you once again on the entertaining continuation of the Grim tales, and a great job of bringing an otherwise lifeless town and college to life. :-)
I always multiply it by 10 in my own head when I am there :p and I think the college, if embraced, could revitalize the city. There is a price to pay of course ... but better than the slow death. They could sell enchanted items made by the mages (don't tell Grim I said that) and stock supplies for the mages. It could be a booming town in many ways.
Ah well ... it is what it is
And I see Erik has been keeping busy, as expected. I like your take on Jarl Korir, too. I imagine Erik and Wulfgar will have a good time looking for that helm.
And Avrein... He may be an enemy of Grim right now, but I have a feeling he might not stay that way.
Nicely done as always, both pics and story! (Now on to the next...)
The only thing I can say with Avrein is that it won't be anything simple nor easy, whatever path he ends up walking. We also know Grim does not like being lied to and that is one line Avrein has already crossed ... although in his defense they are enemies so not like the case where a friend turns on him.
Poor Grim, such a wild soul, being stuck in such a restricted place as College of Winterhold... well, at least he can see Erik and Wolfgar, or otherwise his existence there probably wouldn't be described by other word then miserable. He is already unhappy, especially with those students remarks and comments about his appearance... He is like Dannee in that regard, she also was not happy in College, back at that time she was completely alone too, which made her situation even worse then Grim's. Those stupid gossips of students, their petty indulgences... they really better should have studied then discussing who is or was getting laid... but I guess in any time or place some things remain the same. Great thing that Erik managed to make Grim feel better... and he is right, Grim is unique. At least in unfriendly College Grim has found an understanding with Urag, which is big accomplishment, given how important research is for Grim.
I am intrigued at the nature of Savos connection with Alfrun... personally I don't think they were lovers, but of curse anything is possible. Also Grim's encounter with Ancano was very intense, I am awed at his will, because Ancano practically begs to be ripped in shreds for his horrible character and manners... And that definitely is not over, for being both stuck in College Grin and Ancano will meet again.
Sad thing that all Grim's conversation with Erik was ear dropped by sneaky Arvein... Grim probably did not even think that he can be spied upon! Arvein thoughts of Grim being part Mer is interesting, besides given his mother's heritage it is true, another reason of Domina to hate him even more. Seems like Arvein is still in doubts about himself and his mission, and his thoughts on Ancano and his incompetence are perfectly accurate. Ancano as worthless as a spy, he is more like a Thalmor scarecrow in College, so if Arvein wants to know something he better do investigating and spying himself. Hope that maybe he will get face heel turn, since it would be a waste to see such capable and charismatic Mer killed...
I perfectly agree with your position of writing to yourself, it is the only way to keep yourself interested in your stories in my opinion. I also do that and really can't imagine writing for someone, or writing a story to fit some standards and nor do I write anything without inspiration, that is why sometimes there is a large gap of time in my stories. I am looking forward for continuation and thank you for sharing your awesome work!
Hard to see Savos as a romantic interest to most anyone at times Whatever his relationship was with Grim's mother they are connected as Savos has been to the Labrythian and knows who is trapped down there. I suspect their relationship might have been more professional or academic but who knows, clearly she made an impression on Savos in some ways.
As for Ancano - indeed they will clash in the future I suspect. It works out well for Avrein though (as you will see in later chapters) as Ancano becomes the perfect distraction - Grim is so focused on the Thalmor he *can see* that he misses the Thalmor that he can't see. I had to laugh at your description of Ancano because it is so true; he is a terrible spy.
Thank you for your support, as I told AoK I sometimes worry about my less than mainstream content with Grim, and as you will see Avrein, but if I wrote them as straight it just wouldn't be fun for me and there is plenty of that content already so I am trying to be true to myself in my writing.
Excellent chapter Jonathan! One thing was missing though...
No picture of Urag flipping Ancano the 'Bird' !
Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed the story and appreciate the comment Derek!
