About this image

Okay, well this is the model for the legendary Paladin Blade, Chrysamere that appears in the "Fabled artifacts of Tamriel" and you can actually find it in Morrowind. I am not exactly sure why it has not appeared in either Skyrim or Oblivion but I am looking forward on putting a mod that places it in Skyrim.

Right now I am looking for ideas to where exactly or how would it appear in Skyrim, so feel free to share your ideas if you are interested.

    Love this sword

I have an idea how to put it in game. Warning... wall of text below.

    0. (Note that I tried to make the story line fit with the vanilla world and that it doesn't require any dialogue voice acting at all, so no silent voices is needed either. I recommend that the “quest” is an invisible quest, which means that it doesn’t show up in a quest journal… and is a story only. I think that tells a story better and feels more “immersive” and “real”)

This is how I think it should be put into game:

    1. A skeleton lying on the ground somewhere deep in a dungeon (>>>>a dungeon that already exists in the game<<<< has a note in his hand.

    2. In the note (called "A letter written in blood") is written that the skeleton was a poor knight who was desperately looking for the legendary paladin sword Chrysamere.

    3. In the note (called "A letter written in blood") it is written that the poor knight had traded his soul with a powerful witch (in other words a Hagraven; this Hagraven should have a special name so that it's easy for the player to identify) to know the location of Chrysamere, because the poor knight was desperate (perhaps add some background story to why he was so desperate... like his village had been under attack by bandits and he did not have enough money to buy a proper sword). Just to explain: it makes sense that the witch (Hagraven) would want the poor knight's soul because according the the lore the Hagravens are a conjunction between woman and bird, and who has sacrificed their own souls in order to receive powers of dark magic; so it makes sense that such an evil creature would want more souls

    4. In the note (called "A letter written in blood"), the poor knight writes in his dying moment with his own blood, that the witch had betrayed him and the location he was given (in this deep dungeon) was wrong. He feared for his family and village which he could now not defend in his last moment of life, and prayed to the Nine Divines to one day revenge his lost soul. Perhaps, to add further depth, the poor knight can mention the name of his village in the note, and EVEN the location of his village, for instance "northeast of Whiterun, near the borders of Pale hold". And THEN to add even more depth you could actually create a small burnt down village (to represent that his village was actually destroyed by the bandits, and his family killed), which is now only but rumbles and a few containers... in that exact location the poor knight spoke of. So if the player would decide to visit that location, he would find perhaps a letter from the poor knight’s wife in a container in a rumbled, burnt down house. In that letter, it could be written how the poor knight's wife was worried of him (even more worried of him than of the bandits, because she loved him dearly), and how the poor knight had gone to that specific dungeon (>>>>a dungeon that already exists in the game<<<< were the poor knight was found dead by the player. So, what this means is that the player could start the quest this way as well, by finding the burnt down village first and then the dungeon where the poor knight is dead. The player could also start the quest by finding the poor knight in the dungeon first as well.
Also notice that I in point 0. above wrote that this is not meant to be a “quest” in normal terms, but rather an “invisible story quest” that is not related to your quest journal.
(A possibility to make it a quest though, if you really want to, is to add an NPC that says he/she heard rumours of a burnt down village northeast of Whiterun. That would then add ONE quest marker (no more than one in total), and would start the quest from the burnt down village.)

    5. The poor knight writes in the note the location of where he meet powerful witch (in other words a Hagraven).

    6. Since the player now know the location of the powerful witch, the player should go to see this location, and kill the witch. The witch should have her own TRUE notes of the REAL location of Chrysamere. Perhaps in the notes of the witch, it can be said how the witch found out the location, and why the witch hasn't gone to the tomb herself to retrieve the sword (a possibly reason would be that the tomb was sacred ground, and/or that the sword of Chrysamere could only be worn by a honorable, good person, also see point 9 concerning this).

    7. Since the player now know the location of Chrysamere, the player should travel to this location. It should be a deep, forgotten, very dangerous, dungeon somewhere way off in the wilderness. I think it would be best to let the location be an ancient fort or cave, and in that fort/cave is a tomb very deep inside. The tomb is sacred and protected by undead (undead which once were GOOD people, since Chrysamere is a Paladin's sword).

    8. Make Chryamere powerful, but not overpowered, nor underpowered

    9. In point 6 I mentioned that a possible reason why the powerful witch wouldn't go and retrieve the sword herself could be that the tomb was sacred ground, and/or that the sword of Chrysamere could only be worn by a honorable, good person. In practice in Skyrim, "honorable, good person" would mean that there could be some kind of fame requirement for wielding Chrysamere.
Also, if the reason would be that Chrysamere only could be worn by a honorable, good person, then I propose that a mini-extra quest can be done for EVIL players who still want Chrysamere. My proposition is that the witch had written (in her notes) how to make the sword possible to word by EVIL players. Perhaps the witch could have written instructions of how to make a ritual (perhaps gather certain items, spells, etc) to infect the sword's power with dark magic, thus making it possible for a person who is INFAME being able to wield the sword (see: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Fame_and_Infamy)
An "evil" possibility to turn the otherwise good and honorable style that Chrysamere has would be bring a nice, variety for all kinds of players I think.
