Skyrim

Hey, guys,

version 2.2 is currently in the making and it will be a really big step forward for Locational Damage. This article serves as a little preview for you guys to know what you can look forward to.
If you have any suggestions or feedback regarding the next patch or things currently bugging you, post them in the comment section so I can think about including it in version 2.2.
Here is a list of what is already planned for the upcoming version and what is already done:

What is already done

Completely new detection system: This is something I'm really proud of because the current system is more like a "value-adjusted" system, which means that the values are approximately the same when hitting a specific bodyzone and that is what I built my system according to. The new system is completely built according to logic and therefore works in every situation. So instead of having these predefined values, that only sometimes work, the mod now calculates angle ranges for the bodyzones and if you are in one of these ranges the script knows which bodyzone you hit.
Archery also works now perfectly. The new system can reconstruct aditionally to your angle, which the current system is already capable of, now also your position and the distance to your target from where you shot making precise calculations possible that were not possible before. This also applies to crossbows, so not properly working crossbows now belong to history.
Another thing highly requested was the release of the source codes. Now, that the system works perfectly, I'm going to release the source codes because I think every good combat mod should implement that feature.

Improved AI System: With the current system you get the feel that every person in Skyrim is a master warrior. Even simple merchants can pick up an axe and slit your throat. I want to change that and make the AI dependent on their skill, level and perhaps some other factors so that you can really get the feel of who is a good warrior and who is not.

Hunting addition: I don't know if I'm going to implement it for 2.2 but I'm planning it for one of the next versions. I want to be able to kill larger animals with a shot in the head, so for example a sabrecat, wolf, horker or a bear. It was also recently requested in the comment section. With the new system it would definitely be easier to calculate where you hit the animals.

That's pretty much it. As I already said, if you have something to comment regarding this feel free to do so in the comment section of the mod page.

If you think about it, a sabrecat (wolf and other predators too) will run directly AT you if you attack them from a distance so the only thing you CAN hit at that point (them facing you with those big eyes) is the head. So insta-killing them then seems like an exploit.
