Skyrim

Hey everyone. I haven't posted an article since Frostfall 2.0 was released earlier this month. What a hectic, crazy, and rewarding time it's been since then. I'd like to just quickly go over what's been happening recently, and where we go from here. If you play with Frostfall but don't read my forums that closely, this should bring you up to speed.

* As probably everyone already knows, Frostfall 2.0 was released on January 6th, which marked a major shift in the direction of the mod, and was in a sense a re-release. I'm very happy to say that no major bugs were encountered, due in large part to the amazing level of testing that was done on the several Beta and Release Candidate builds that I made available ahead of its release. THANK YOU TESTERS!

* The outpouring of support for Frostfall over the past several days has been incredible, much more than I would have ever anticipated. Thank you to everyone who has endorsed, donated, and voted Frostfall for File of the Month following 2.0's release; I sincerely appreciate it. I've never gotten even remotely close to winning FOTM before, and even if I don't win, I don't really care; as I said in a previous post on my boards, just knowing that 440+ souls think that this mod is worth a lot to them, is worth a lot to me. Thanks for supporting this mod and keeping me motivated, and for your steady supply of feedback, suggestions, and criticism. It keeps me motivated and it keeps the quality of this mod high.

* There are some (minor) outstanding issues that need to be addressed in the next patch version, Frostfall 2.1. I have compiled a list of all things I intend to fix or change (as well as a few new features) right here.

* 2.1 is intended to be out the day Dragonborn is released, or shortly after. Several features of Dragonborn (particularly alcohol effects and the exposure protection of Dragonborn-added armor) should already be supported and should work the moment Dragonborn is available. Some minor support needs to be added in order to make the temperatures on Solstheim exactly as intended.

* Belt-Fastened Quivers was made available yesterday, which is an optional skeleton replacement file for all races and sexes that moves quivers down to the waist, which jives better with Frostfall's new backpacks. I'm pretty happy with the results, and I hope you will be too. You can pick it up as an Optional File on Frostfall's download page. See here for screenshots, the full read-me and documentation.

Thanks for reading, and like everyone else, I'm eagerly awaiting Dragonborn to roll around on the PC. Stay warm and dry!

@ ramakgaming, so do you reckon the skinny version fo UNP will require a patch?

Just to mention, I use UNP with a skin for it for females and it doesn't need a patch, it works perfectly. The reason for that is because UNP is based on Vanilla.

I just wanted to point that out.

I use LFF Lore-Friendly Females body which requires UNP to work well.

So you shouldn't have problems if you use UNP. But I wouldn't know about other skins, or versions of UNP. I don't use the skinny version of UNP either, I use the default.

For males I have no problem because I use Vanilla body for them - no other mod seems to keep it dirty like it should be, I mean - they don't have soup, so they would be dirty. I use LFF for females because it makes them equivelant to the male by being equally dirty, while still feminin, without being plastic looking or anything. Which is just a personal preferrence (in case anyone wondered why I use it).

Anyway, I look forward to the next update - I love Frostfall. I also look forward to seeing other mods come up with new quiver/backpack mods that are dynamic like the ones from Frostfall 2.0.

@OrmrSnaethorsen - Should be fine. If they don't alter the skeleton, it's compatible.

Maybe a silly question, but would the changes be compatible with race mods or race altering mods like EEO?

While i would be much happier with bug fixes, a compatibility patch for the quivers with certain body types like cbbe and unp be would be pretty much terrific. Maybe there's another modder out there who could that task out of your hands?

Well that's not really important, i don't do this very often, but i would like to tell you that i am very very happy with your mod which i have always considdered to be a free expansion to simply make your game better. Whether this should have been have been in the vanilla game or not, i am very happy with what it came to be. Putting off my playthrough till Frostfall 2.0 comes out was the best decision i made in all my Skyrim gaming. Buy yourself a cake or something, you earned it man!
