Hvergelmir's Armory and the future of Hvergelmir Mods
...and how Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture eventually will be obsolete.

Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture
was a project I started back in late 2011 and the first mod of it's kind to give all armor and weapons a visual overhaul. With time the progress on this mod died out for various reasons, but it all comes down to one simple fact. I'm a perfectionist - and the vanilla textures AND models weren't good enough for me - while my texture work is still amongst the best available of it's kind on Nexus or anywhere else, Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture simply never got a chance to truly shine through and was quickly forgotten - and this is because I didn't deliver. I cannot take the "dirty" road and deliver half-assed work that haven't been made the technically correct way (such as baking a proper normal map based on a high-poly model). So, when my interest for retexturing the vanilla models slowly, but surely died out I had no method of progressing, as back then I literally had NO 3d modeling knowledge or skill.

This has changed...

I'm nowhere near expert level or even something you could consider  professional, but do I progress beyond the average amateur? Yes, yes I do... I've learned stuff, and I've gotten much better at my craft. So much so, in a short while, that I even manage to surprise myself.

Remember my first texture work and how it improved over time? Well, take a closer gander at my latest work and tell me this isn't simply STUNNING and AESTHETIC!

These are but few examples of what is to come, and what I'm already working on.

I am, however, planning to give most if not all vanilla armor and weapons a visual overhaul and most notably "deLARP-ificate" all weapons.

  • Re-model and re-texture all vanilla armor and weapons - I know, I know... huge project.
  • Make completely new variants of weapons and armor, such as new axes, swords, maces, clubs, daggers, knives etc..
  • Add quality variants of existing stuff. I promised this back in 2011, but I'll make new variants including old/worn, new/fine, exquisite/exceptional variants.
  • More? Come with suggestions.

This will, of course, with time render Hvergelmir's Armor (and shield) Retexture projects obsolete and my new work will take over. I will, however, release each quality tier individually liked I started doing with Hvergelmir's Steel Armory, so that my work will get the highlights and refreshed attention it deserves. I'll go back and merge these into Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture (that will henceforth be known as Hvergelmir's Armory), so let this be a warning to you. It WILL eventually happen and there will no longer be a Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture!

I request moral support, I get a little but it's not much - a little comment once in a while really does help on the will to continue working - I assume the lack of comments or endorsements (not fishing for endorsements here...) is because my fan base is currently laying dormant, awaiting new releases. I also request suggestions and criticism as long as it's reasonable and constructive. Are you a hater of Hvergelmir Mods (why hate, what did I ever do to you? - I do know you're out there, though), then don't bother...

I'll appreciate any kind of support and encouragement, it really does help my work morale a lot.

Thank you, with regards
- Hvergelmir

I'm not going to lie, I'm very new to your mod scene. I'm actually just new to modding to begin with. I just starting modding Skyrim about a week ago, and have been loving it so far. But I can say without a doubt that what you have so far is MIND BLOWINGLY AMAZING. I was actually quite sad to hear that this is a work in progress and not a completely done mod. Though I have no idea the stress and time it may take to accomplish what you set out to do. all in all I very much look forward to the completion of the Hvergelmir's Armory Project, and wish you the best of luck!
