Missing MCM Menu FAQ

Making a sticky post about this because people keep asking the same questions over and over

1) I updated to version X, now SkyTweak won't work! Please fix version X!

There will be no "fix", because this isn't SkyTweak's problem as far as I know. This is just a common problem with MCM menus, and sometimes it can be triggered by a version update, regardless of what actually changes in the version update.

In fact I am not clear on why this happens. I just have educated guesses. But what I do know is that the menu is unlikely to disappear in a save file where the SkyTweak menu has already appeared once. So try the following steps below to just try to get it to appear once.

2) How do I make the MCM menu show?

There are a few things you can do to troubleshoot this.

a) Mods beyond the 127th slot might not appear

If this is the case, then your SKSE is either out of date or incorrectly installed.
Some old SKSE files might be overwriting newer ones for example.
Regardless, you need to fix your SKSE installation.

b) Try the following console command:

setStage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1

This command should tell SkyUI to check for menus again.

c) Disable all bashed/skyproc patches
Did you bash SkyTweak/GUISE/Grimy Utilities or run any of them through skyproc patchers?
None of them were intended to be patched.
So try disabling your patch and see if the menu pops up after you do that.
And if that works, you should try make a new patch, leaving SkyTweak/GUISE/Grimy Utilities out of the patch.

d) Mess with your load order.

I'm not sure about this, but it is possible that SkyUI checks for MCM menus in order of load order.
If that's true, you probably want SkyTweak as high in the load order as possible
But Make sure FISS and SkyUI are still above SkyTweak in the load order.

e) Try Jaxonz' MCM kicker

f) Increase your papyrus allocation

Perhaps your game is overburdened with scripts, and your game can't handle all of them when SkyUI needs to scan for new menus.
You can read on how to do this here:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/?

g) Just try waiting longer
It's not uncommon for SKYui to wait 2+ minutes before refreshing a menu.
Note that you should work in game. don't have your ESC menu or console menu up while you're waiting.

h) Try removing mods
A few reports have implied that particularly script heavy mods may interfere with SkyTweak loading.
You could try disabling some of those and seeing if SkyTweak loads on a NEW save, after they are removed.

i) Try adding FISS/Grimy's Plugin into your load order
FISS and Grimy's Plugin should be optional in theory, but players sometimes report MCM menus appearing if they add FISS. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be the case.
