It does bother me that the story tellers and showcasers were just subjected to this change without an apparent thought to how their "premium" base might react. But while I hope it's not true as I had come to believe that the Nexus attitude had not become so "big time" that they would not care about this relatively tiny imageshare base. But perhaps I am wrong. Time will tell.
Again I thank YOU for your kindness. You are truly the heart of this community that I do love. Your kind thoughts mean the world to me.
The Nexus have had to go through many changes to keep this site running and we may have to change how we post to support the Nexus. If this is a bandwidth issue purely, then we are the actual source of the issue.
I for one chose to stay, I'll crop my images if I have to, but a smaller site will grow into the same problems.
affect ONLY the person viewing them and not the bandwidth of the Nexus.
I think the "good" intention was auto sizing would simplify the process for some. IMO great, but leave that as default with an optional resize. However Dark One says he prefers the aesthetics of the 600 limit as it keeps in line with the main image. It may change if the main page is expanded (which has never happened that I recall) It's his site so he has the right to do as he sees fit.
So Showcases And stories are screwed for the foreseeable future unless enough of us voice a disapproval to evoke a change.
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it my friend.
And like you said: 'time will tell'. Although I hope that not time but you will be the one telling a tale again here soon. As always with kind regards.
Please, don`t go!
I also don`t like the "downsized" images. They are way too small to show details that are important for the storys, showcases, and actually all the images...but...we are your friends!
You want to leave us, cause you are dissatisfied with Nexus?
Please rethink your decision!
Perhaps the Nexus will not miss you, but we...WE WILL MISS YOU!
I would miss the colorful stories!
You simply can't disappear on us now, dear!
Get some rest my friend and come back even if we have to change our format a bit
I was wondering what happened to the apparent sizes of the images all of a sudden, with no explanation until after the fact....
Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke...." ??
Hopefully the Site Staff can come up with an acceptable fix soon, like "Aaron" just mentioned, and thus relieve you and all of us together of our (hopefully temporary) disillusionment.
I thoroughly enjoyed these wonderfully-imaginative Sagas of yours.^^
Thank you most kindly Arnold.
I hope to see your Lusciously-Lovely, Lethal Ladies sometime soon, and may your "grumpiness" eventually disappear, my friend.
Cheers!
I understand your disappointment. I was a bit annoyed as well to see all my 800-pixel images scaled down to 600. I can live with it for now, though, and either right-click -> "View Image" on pics that I want to see full-size, or use the Ctrl-plus and Ctrl-minus shortcuts to zoom in and out (Ctrl-0 resets the page zoom). On the plus side, I like the new editor box.
A wider page layout is supposed to be in the works. In the meantime, maybe someone will write a Greasemonkey script that bumps the max image width to 800-975 pixels, for those of us using that browser plugin.
And yeah, it would've been nice to have a news post about this change.
I understand 600 keeps it from overlapping the box on the right ... but seriously? Look at all that wasted space in that column. We all get around that easily enough anyhow.
This actually could have been such a good move - auto-rescaling and the new editor box - that would have made many people happy but then they totally botch it by not really thinking it through IMO nor did they communicate any of it.
I suppose considering the size of their community that they know that those who come to the imageshare to enjoy showcases and stories are probably just a tiny fraction of their overall user base and so it probably doesn't matter to much to them. Perhaps they also have other reasons for doing it as it ties into other services used besides this place.
Of course a little communication would have helped in that case. Does it really take that much time to make a news post with an explanation and heads up?
