About this mod

Tired of the dark and washed out look? This modern ReShade preset boosts vibrance and ambient light realistically and adds a brand new contrast system (similar to that of Counter Strike 2.)

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Requires ReShade to work.

The preset does not use depth data and is compatible with DLSS, FSR, and Multiplayer.

Make sure to assign and use the ReShade toggle key if you want to see the menus better.

What the mod does:

  • Maximizes the effect of ambient sky lighting in a way that's true to the human eye, especially outdoors, making things in shadow easier to see.
  • Creates more contrasted and moody indoor spaces, making openings produce more light and dark rooms far darker.
  • Provides deeper shading and sunlight that brings out a vast array of vivid colors (sort of like HDR).
  • Exaggerates sunlight and eye adaptation between indoors/outdoors.
  • Adds subtle bloom based on accurate object color and brightness.
  • More evenly spaces light and shading across outdoor scenes.

Important things to note:

  • Set your brightness to 180 when first using this mod, as it was made for the game at minimum brightness. You can increase it if you're having problems seeing in dark spaces, though this is not advised, as higher brightness can look degrade the look very quickly.
  • If you can't see the highlighted option in the menus, that means the mod is working correctly. Use the ReShade toggle key for the menus.
  • The mod was made at 1080p resolution, but other resolutions may work.

Known issues:

  • Flashlights may look too bright indoors.
  • Certain shadows may flicker on some hardware. This is mostly an issue with the vanilla game being unstable.

HOW TO INSTALL:

  • Make sure ReShade is installed into the same location as SixDays-Win64-Shipping.exe
  • Extract both the "reshade-shaders" folder and ReShadePreset.ini into that location. Replace the files.
  • Run the game!
