This will work for both the Ubisoft Connect and Steam versions of the game.
This extension will automatically install AnvilToolkit (ATK). It can be run from the Dashboard tab in Vortex or via the notification sent on each mod deployment.
Usage Notes:
- You must have Steam and/or Ubisoft Connect apps open when launching the game from Vortex for the game to start.
- For mods that require AnvilToolkit (ATK), you still need to run the tool from the from the notification you receive on each mod deployment to repack the .forge files. Automatic packing of .forge files is not possible because ATK does not have a command line interface at this time.
Mod Installation Notes:
- Installs mods to game root folder by default (including .forge file replacements).
- Sound mods (.pck) will be automatically installed to the "sounddata/pc" folder.
- For ATK mods, the extension will attempt to set up the correct "Extracted" folder structure. If folders cannot be named automatically, the user will receive a notification where they can rename the "XXXX.forge" folder, or open the Staging folder to rename manually.
This extension offers the following benefits over manual mod installation:
- Installs many mods automatically (ones that do not require repacking .forge files, such as complete .forge file replacements)
- Automatic download of ATK to the game folder.
- Run ATK and the game from a convenient interface in Vortex.
- Download mods directly to the game folder from your browser (no manual unzipping and moving files around).
- Check for and download mod updates from Nexus Mods.
- Places mods that need ATK in the game folder next to the .forge files, so that you can simply run Anvil without having to manually move files around. At most, you might need to add a couple folders in the mod staging folder to put the mod files in the correct structure if the mod author packaged the mod poorly.
Mod Authors - Please consider packaging your mods that are to be installed with AnvilToolkit such that unzipping the mod in the root game folder places the files in the correct structure to be re-packed back into the .forge files. The mod linked below for AC Unity is a perfect example of this proper packaging. If you don't package this way, the user will still have to do some manual file manipulations. This packaging structure also makes it easier for users who want to install manually.
