The final official patches break compatibility with stereo sound effects. In-game, this mutes three weapons and a few other effects. This mod provides mono-encoded versions of the impacted effects, restoring them in-game.

Five of SMAC/SMAX's sound effects are encoded in stereo; all others are mono. The final official patches break the game's compatibility with stereo effects, silencing them in-game. Three effects - for the Missile Launcher, Spore Launcher, and Singularity Laser - are commonly encountered in-game, while the other two may go unused.
Simply unzip this archive into the fx folder of your game installation to install this mod. (You may want to make copies of the original versions first.) If you are playing the GOG version, you may not need this mod...I recommend checking in-game if the Missile Launcher is silent before installing.
