Dragon Age 3: Inquisition confirmed

  • Comment
In not especially surprising news Bioware has confirmed they are working on Dragon Age 3, subtitled Inquisition. Mark Darrah, the executive producer announced the game in an online letter, which curiously contained part of his own CV.

I am pleased to confirm that we are, in fact, working on the next Dragon Age game. Not a big surprise to most of you, I know. We have been working on it in some way for about two years now with the bulk of our efforts ramping up about 18 months ago.

Part of that effort has involved you, our fans, and the feedback you've provided for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and their DLC. We've visited message boards, read reviews, and we've gone to events to have direct face to face conversations with some of our most passionate fans. We've been listening, and we will continue to listen.

Recently, I said that we didn't want to talk about Dragon Age III unless we had something to show. I'm trying to stick to that plan and won't be revealing much today. That said, a lot of information and rumors have surfaced recently and we don't want to hide from them. There are a BUNCH of things that I really want to share with you but I want to do this right, and doing it right requires some more time.

So here's what I can confirm for now:

The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
We won't be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It's composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.
We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We've started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.

There's much more to talk about, of course, but it will have to wait until it's ready for the prime time.

Oh and it'll be another probuganda just like BF3 or ACIII or CODBO2 or Most of the recently released titles; and I really feel I need to change my qoute.

    Sure It'll Suck !
There are 2 badass RPG Exclusive engines that have been put to test recently (RED Engine and Creation Engine), and they use Frostbite 2! Why? To fool us of course. Because Frostbite 2 has a buttload of texture resolution and post effects, wich will take enough HDD to replace the missing level maps and enviroments! Have you played NFS:MW:ACG ? It's either "watch my textures" or "I can apply those effects too" or "you have to crash so I can show off my quality particle effects"

Oh and Morrigan might make a cameo appearance however I'm willing to bet that Bioware brings in Morrigan's son (Alistairs son) will be the hero or Villian.

Hated, Hated, Hated DA2! I will not be pre-ordering DA3 and will not buy it until many other 's that bought the game review it.

I refues to get burned again. My $50.00 to $80.00 is a luxury item these days so the game better be dang worth it with hours and replay value. I still play DAO, though I played 12 times got tired and put it down for a year, I'm just now playing again. DA2, I could only go 2/3 of the game and was so disgusted with it that I never finished the game. I don't plan on finishing either!

Basically Bioware and EA has a lot of work to do.

EA loves to nickle and dime and I wouldn't put it past EA to have the entire game set up as DLC's. Just like they do Pogo Games. Com They nickle and dime you to death

I just hope if the game is Inquisition themed that we get Cassandra as a party member. Shes a total BA.

And I agree on the need to bring Morrigan back into the plot since they kinda left that whole thing hanging and never really touched upon it at all in DA2

Compared to DAO, DA2 was an average but playable game, worth a playthrough, preferably traded with a friend, but not a preorder certainly. Since EA took over, as expected, less time seems given to complete what needs to be completed in bioware's games, done in the usual mass production, must hit a deadline or else we'll sink, panic mentality that money can promote in the weak willed. Sounds like they've had more development time on this one, we'll see <img class=">

*my last comment got eaten sorry if this doubles

    -edit
Someone mentions running into old characters, it would be great I enjoy it when they make cameo's and if not, well if we get a CS we can put them in.

Without a doubt DA3 will most likely have a trailer at the VGA show this year
