I rarely if ever use anti-aliasing in games. So just curious, is the main purpose of it to remove jaggies and soften edges? Because for me, even without the TAA and Lumasharpen, it's pretty sharp already. Lumasharpen without TAA actually makes it "too sharp" and gives objects the "halo" effect. But even with TAA, it still ends up being a bit too sharp, since Claire's and Leon's hair ends up have a slight halo effect on every hair strand. I know it's mostly down to personal taste but is there really much of a difference with TAA+Lumasharpen and both off?
There should be a noticeable difference between TAA with and without lumasharpen. Especially the hair sadly looks really noisy and has a "flickering effect" if anti aliasing is not used.
You can check that yourself by leaving the reshade off and disabling/reenabling TAA to see the difference.
The only downside of TAA is that it blurs the screen a lot, which is where the lumasharpen comes in. If the sharpening is too strong, try lowering it a bit in the reshade settings.
Then again, if the picture quality looks fine to you without anti aliasing, just disable lumasharpen and aa and only use the other effects in the preset. It's up to you! (:
Ah as soon as I get Clarity2 and ColorFilter from your dropbox link it works fine. The versions on GitHub don't work for this process, fyi. Thanks! More feedback soon!
The mod itself is all post-processing so I don't really have any control over the muzzle flashes themselves. As for the GitHub version, it does seem to work for those people that can't get the dropbox link to work. I'm not going to pretend that I understand it haha.
I'll leave the two links up so people have two options, of which one SHOULD work.
Is it possible to readjust the muzzle flash of all the weapons to be like the minigun? Like how it has a small muzzle flash then wall reflect, instead of causing the whole screen to flash? Makes the game very hard for me to play. :( brightness setting only helps a tiny bit. Is this something you can work into the mod?
Fantastic reshade, I love it. My only issue is your description of where to locate the files "Clarity2.fx" + "ColorFilter.fx" in order to download are incorrect or just flat out does not work. I had to look around a lot to find those specific files, which i found here > https://github.com/Ioxa53/reshade-shaders/tree/patch-1 and nowhere where you said they would be. Overall thank you so much for this, I love your work! I'm glad i managed to get it to work. Atm my frames are a little wonky though. Is there anything u recommend to fix FPS with the reshade?
I'm very sorry about that! The link does work for me so I don't know why it doesn't for you. I'll add the mirror to the description in case someone else has that issue.
The Reshade really shouldn't make the frames inconsistent. The only thing that affects frames in a real manner is "gaussian blur" try turning that off if it really makes your game lag.
Otherwise here are general tips for RE2make settings; The "volumetric lighting" setting in the game is quite broken if you set it to "high". Try setting that to "medium" if you haven't yet. (it literally makes no visual difference). Otherwise the shadow setting should be "high" at most. "max" makes no real visual difference and just makes the game run slower. Another option is "ambient occlusion". It works perfectly, though especially HBAO+ has a decent frame impact. Try SSAO if you want a few more frames. The last option is "screen space reflections". This can net you 15 frames if you turn it off but sadly it'll also have a big visual impact. I'd recommend to keep this on unless you absolutely have to turn it off.
Those are the settings that can make your game a tad unstable. Again, the reshade really shouldn't affect your game that much. (4-5 frames at most). I hope I helped! And thanks for the kind words!
Reshade itself has not been made compatible with DirectX12 yet. So this sadly means no. In RE2 Remake, DirectX12 actually performs worse than DX11 though so it's better to stick to DX11 for now anyways.

the modder explains everything right

Min Brightness - 25%
Overall Brightness - 55%
I'd recommend using the overall brightness to adjust it to your own taste but keeping Max Brightness/Darkness at my settings.
