About this mod
Hello everyone! I'm back with a preset that might impress you so much that, just like me, you won’t want to turn it off. The default look of the game simply won’t meet your expectations when it comes to immersion and gameplay

I also added real-time contrast adjustment, which really improves the in-game experience. It’s hard to capture that in screenshots—you just have to try it yourself. I put a lot of effort into lighting and shadow effects: stronger light sources have more impact, and shadows are deeper, adding to the atmosphere and sense of dread.
Beyond the color and lighting effects, there’s a subtle bloom effect as a final touch. The game feels darker and more intense, with a more aggressive color palette—but it works perfectly. The police station no longer looks pale yellow; it truly feels like a place of total chaos. I also removed the “milky” effects that made dark scenes less impressive—the darkness now really feels uncertain and tense.
Despite how intense it looks, the preset is very smooth to play with. I personally use it for casual play and even plan to finish the game on Hardcore mode using only a knife. At the time of writing, I’m at the last location.
FPS drops on my setup (which is a bit potato) are about 10 FPS. I have 4GB VRAM, and I’m running a mod that improves textures, plus Reshade and this preset—so my PC is really struggling to keep up! :D
To install, place the preset in the main game folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 2 Biohazard RE2
In-game settings should be set to classic sRGB (not Rec.709) because on Rec.709 the game looked overexposed. sRGB works way better and was my logical choice for this preset. Use normal rendering mode—I mention this because although interlaced rendering can save FPS at high resolutions, it can cause issues with dynamic effects, which this preset uses a few of.
Other graphics settings are mostly on high, except textures which I keep lower. I use DX11 API, but the preset works with DX12 as well.
I encourage you to share your feedback, as I plan to improve the preset over time and upload updated versions here as additional files. Also, feel free to check out my DeviantArt!
