PC Gamer US has announced Fallout: New Vegas as best Roleplaying Game of the Year! It was also mentioned that the PC platform is where it truly shines with mods unlocking its full potential.
Great job for the modders of the New Vegas modding community!
I cannot say NV does not deserve it, but i think the lack of competition in that field gave it the title.
NV is a great game, but it has major flaws in terms of crashes and stability and some story related issues.
I have played all Fallout games, since the very first and i can say FNV is the most fun and buggiest Fallout game ever.
I have 170+ hours played and i can tell you i had to restart the game, due to crashes, pretty much that same number of times, if not more. Quite sad because this game is quite fun.
well i agree that new vegas is awesome but i dont agree its the best game of the year i dont get it almost everything is exactly the same as in fallout3 down to the frikkin rocks the people are the same too this game isnt as epic as everyone believes it is i play it because of the iron sights and the fact that fallout3 random ctd problems ruined my s#*! cause it crashes the game about avery fifteen seconds
Add mods and it's a hell yes! no matter how you look at it. A sandbox rich RPG experience with good story that you can customize to your liking? It beats the living crap out of anything.
I concur.
Anyway, it seems IGN also appreciates Fallout: New Vegas.
For me, an open world and the freedom to explore, wander, change and pick a different ending always beats the focused/guided cinematic experience (interspersed with bouts of FPS combat) played out in a series of relatively small worldspaces surrounded by invisible walls that Mass Effect, DA:O and the likes have to offer. Don't get me wrong, they are excellent games in their own genre but if I had just enough money to buy a single game I would pick a sandbox game instead of these action FPS/RPG hybrids.
I'm surprised but it's a pleasant surprise... although if we're talking about how much depth the RPG elements have then yes it's better than ME2.
But a better game? That's arguable.

Reason why I think Skyrim will be, from my point of view, infinitely better than ME3 (yes, I said 3) because it will most certainly keep true to Beth's design philosophy and also be customizable.
Just my opinion on the matter...
Anyway, congrats to Obsidian for it and to the modders for being mentioned and praised. They (we?) deserve it.

It's not about being a better game it's about being a better role playing game (note the bold parts).
From a role playing point of view FNV is better than ME2 and better than FO3.

So... congratulations, Obsidian!
