Remnant II

This will likely be the most controversial update, as it completely changes how you download, install, and use the mod. It is very important to voice your feedback to help decide on whether we should move forward with this model.

Addon System
After so much struggle with the process of mod loading, I was finally able to create a workaround to enable the use of Addons in a multiplayer session. Addons allow me to break up characters into separate packages, this creates benefits and drawbacks:

PROs

  • Flexibility to address issues/mistakes on a character without needing to update the entire mod
  • Drastically reduces mod size as characters are added (Currently 50 MB vs 600 MB)
  • Ability to opt-in for characters: not everyone is interested in all characters - waste of space
  • Ability to make the project public, allowing other content creators to add characters to the game.

CONs
  • The workaround that was required might cause benign synchronization issues for joining clients. Synchronization occurring afterwards should be fine.
  • Installation is slightly more complicated (skill issue?).
  • A major version can change data format, which requires all addons to be rebuilt with the new version to work reliably.

The Damn Physics Bug
With physics being unfixable, I have collected some good feedback and added a hotkey to force "refresh" physics instead of having to go through the menu. The default key is F8.
Keybinds
If you hated the F9 key, note that keybinding customization was just added. Edit the visualoverridemod_keybinds.lua file to change the assigned hotkeys for the mod. Moreover, this is a good opportunity to request more hotkeys with other convenient functionalities.

New Character
And as with every major revision, I leave you with a new character. This time it's Persephone from SMITE.
